2011 Infiniti M will learn how to drive fuel-efficient using ‘Eco Pedal’
Do you want to improve fuel economy by up to 5% to 10% by simply driving differently? Then you should check out the “Eco pedal” of the new Infiniti M sedan, which was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

It boasts a tech package that includes the “Eco pedal,” which will be wired into fuel management software and will put up a slight resistance to foot pressure when the car is being driven too aggressively for ideal fuel consumption. John Weiner, Infiniti product planning director, said that the driver can choose to disregard the resistance or turn off the device but when the signal is heeded, a fuel economy improvement of up to 10% has been recorded.

Wow. That's the best photo i have seen so far of new Infiniti M. Looking stunning to me. Some curvy lines but also looking aggressive especially front end.

Nissan also earlier introduced the world's first downshift rev matching clutch system (synchro Rev) in 370Z and now eco-pedal. Nice work Nissan, seems like they are focusing too much in this area.

Agree, does look nice in that photo. But doesn't this pedal defeat the purpose of buying a a high powered luxury car in the first place?

What's so stunning; we've seen those exact curves before....on the hyundai elantra.

chewy, if you can read, the system CAN be turned off, and/or the increased pedal resistance simply IGNORED.

Would like to see Infiniti M next to J30 sedan. That car still gets attention today. M designers did a good job.

This is a dumb 'advancement'. Just another useless feature that falls under 'why-tech'. A simple dash-mounted 'eco' light would have been just as effective, for people that care about saving MPG's.

Great now they have engineered a car with intended anti-acceleration!
