997 Porsche Carrera S bested by Aston?

Both the 911 and Aston are phenominal cars.... This car ooozes sex (reminds me of an old MLWTTKC Song "Sex On Wheels")and the Porsche 911 is back on track with its most recent face lift. If I had the cash, I would have both!

the styling of that is incredible! I still am partial to the 911, just has classic good looks, but that is a beautiful car!

Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and Mini charge about a 15% to 22% premium above and beyond the exchange rate to buy their product with sometimes a reduced warranty in Cnanada. Aston Martin has decided to be fair and price their new Vantage appropriately. The Aston is $4000 cheaper than a Cabriolet "S" base model with no options in Canada or about the same as an "S" with leather, Xeon lights and metallic paint or a CLS AMG. What to do? What to do?

This would make the Aston come in at around $88K US wrt the 911 cabrio "S". Looks pretty good in that light (or expensive for a 911 in Canada!).

More Canadian perspective. I had a standing order for the new C4S but cancelled it when the bill (and this was not going hog-wild) started approaching 150K!! Not to mention the "wide body" needs a measering tape and surveyer to notice it. I haven't driven one, but I'm giving the Aton a HARD look (and HARD drive) when it arrives later in Feb.

Oh, and for the bloke that says the Porsche will outperform the Aston in every category? What about that fable Nurbergring stat? I beleive the Aston was 2 or 4 seconds faster around the Nurbergring... (sorry, couldn't find the article to back it up)

I had a deposit on a Vantage for three years so I was serious about it but cancelled my order. The Aston is 30K! more than the 997 s and sure, they're comparable. How about dropping the Aston 115-120K on the new turbo coming out in a few months. That's apples to apples when comparing value and the Aston with its piddly (for the money) 380 horse power couldn't beet the new turbo if you got out and pushed. I bought a loaded Cayman S to hold me over and I love it.

Another serious issue. This months EVO mag (British) bought a Vantage for its test fleet and half the time, the computer would crap out and they couldn't start the car! They had to have it flat bedded back to the dealer and this happened more than once! Not a good sign when you want to compare it against the Porsche that has been universally ackowledged as the most practical, drivable, and reliable of all the "exotic" sports cars.

On the Masi. Nice car, but just seems to be cursed with "what do you do with it once you're done with it". Time will tell I guess, and the Aston might not hold its value either...
