Spy Photo: 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon

This is one hot wagon.

Looks like a lot of CLS was baked into this car.

But when the E-class wagon looks this good, one question remains?

Who the hell is going to buy an R-class now ????

New E wagon or the facelifted R class(2009).

R they running out of ideas that they can't design E individually or is it from now onwards (2007) MB's main idea is to inject styling cues of CLS+S+R class in every other new car.
For example:AS ROUMERS says NEW
C=a blend of CLS,S
E=a blend of CLS,R
CLE=a blend of CLS,E

I think it will be no wrong if someone says that MB is or will be takin some styling cues from other major brands like BMW,Lexus in the near future.

Photoshop or not, it looks pretty good. I don't like wagons, but this one is much better than anything BMW has to offer, and I'm a BMW fan. Driving dynamics aside, the styling of the CLS, which this appears to be, is one of the best car designs in recent history in my opinion.

Another excellent Photoshop job. An R and a CLS all morphed into one! Interesting idea, but folks let's please wait till it is closer to the time that the E-Class arrives, it will undoubtedly not look like this.

Is it only me that finds this comment laughable?

The CLS, R-Class and S-Class are all new Mercedes models, therefore are all designed with Mercedes' new design language. This language is applied to all new Mercedes models, including the new E and C Class.

This being the case, then of course the new E and C will have styling cues from the models JUGNU mentioned. It's called family resembalance. Is that so hard to understand?

And I totally disagree that Mercedes-Benz will copy Lexus in the future.

Reason? What is there to copy? That L-Finesse design theme is no more than a marketing trick trying to make Lexus look like they take design seriously.

the 'L-Finesse' language is realised so completely differently on all their new models, that the average punter wouldn't even know Lexus had a design theme at all.

The GS is round and bloated, the IS sharp-edged, and the LS an expanse of bland under-styled barge.

Even minor details such as wing mirrors differ from model to model.

The roof is low slung. The body is quite curvy, if it is the e class wagon then Mercedes would have trouble in differentiating between the CLS and E class sedan. It could be a CLW (a coupe wagon based on the E class). If it is, who knows, we may even got CLG (4 door coup styled G class). Mercedes has showed that there are no boundaries to its imagination.
