HOT or COLD: Is Audi Bringing JT Into The Mix Cool?

HOT or COLD: Is Audi Bringing JT Into The Mix Cool?
So, when a respectable auto group goes and fetches one of the most well-known pop stars today, what do you consider that?

A brilliant marketing move?

In an effort to boost the A1's presence, Audi has enlisted Justin Timberlake, of boy-band and solo fame, to be the brand ambassador. Knowing that Timberlake used to own a first-generation TT back in the day, and has been spotted with a Q7 and S5, he obviously is an Audi fan. This is not an empty endorsement.

How do you feel about this, ladies and gents?

Press release follows:

Justin Timberlake new Audi brand ambassador

• Justin Timberlake gets leading role in Audi A1 Internet campaign
• Timberlake: “I am very excited to be a part of the next evolution”

Ingolstadt, December 16, 2009 – Justin Timberlake will act as an Audi brand ambassador starting in 2010. The entertainer will play the leading role in an exceptional Audi A1 Internet campaign to be launched in the spring of 2010.

“Justin Timberlake is an extraordinary artist. He manages to keep advancing his personal development while proving his abilities in different branches of the arts,” says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Marketing and Sales. “As a superstar he appeals to a young target audience that we’re particularly intent on exciting about the compact and efficient A1, which is superlatively well suited for city traffic.”

That’s where Timberlake will play a leading role. “Audi has always been at the forefront of engineering and technology“, says Timberlake, „and I am very excited to be a part of the next evolution conscience with Audi and the A1“.

Totally agree with the choice. I know he's an owner and has used Audi vehicles in at least one charity celebrity golf tournament that he set up in Vegas a while back. As an artist, especially a pop artist, he is respectable, innovative, relavent and current. All things you need when you want respect for your product, not just a blatant pop star megaphone.

I guess that will work since Tiger Woods is busy

He is an owner of a Q7, S5, and A8L. So, I that makes him quite believable. Good job Audi.

JT? How about a more "Manly" man? Which man would want to associate themselves with JT? What was wrong with Jason Stathom? What next? Parez Hilton?

I'm a late-forties, cynical, elitist hater of much that embodies pop culture. Yet, I've always had a hard time hating Justin Timberlake. "My Dick in a Box" pretty much dispelled any residual or latent hatred. Rock on JT and Audi.

Jason Stathom is still an Audi spokesperson. JT is just the front man for the A1 campaign.
