Aston Martin Cygnet: first official images released
Aston Martin has shown off its Toyota iQ-based Cygnet in more detail than ever before. These Aston Martin Cygnet official studio pictures show how Aston has integrated its own styling cues – such as its rear lights and door handles – into the iQ’s existing design.

The Cygnet’s exterior combines an all-new Aston grille with standard iQ lights to impressive effect. It has been devised entirely by Aston’s Gaydon design group, led by Marek Reichman. The luxurious, all-hide interior, also designed by Aston, uses the existing cabin’s instrument pack and architecture, but new colours and trim materials give it a new look that’s much more luxurious than the standard iQ’s.

They should have used a platform based off the SMART car if anything. Either way it's a laughing stock. I guess it's for those super wealthy folks who live in a huge estate that wants to travel from one end to the other in his Cygnet to have a picnic on the west end of his property by the pond. How English.

Don't know what is Aston Martin thinking or the reason behind putting their badge on such a small and inexpensive car. Also why they chose Toyota? they could have chosen VW or even BMW 1 series hatch?
Got lot of questions? Aston Martin should seriously explain this model.

Maybe it's for boosting the avg fuel economy of Aston Martin to meet CAFE standards? That's if it gets calculated in. I see no other reason for this :/

Doesn't CAFE standards have a loophole where it only applies to car companies selling more then like 100,000 (not sure of the number) vehicles? In which case Aston Martin would be exempt.

This might be a bit less offensive if they simply called it the Cygnet by Aston Martin... though not by much.

Finally, a reliable Aston Martin.

Why even bother? I think it wrecks their brand image somewhat. The headlights are awful, btw.

"From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cygnet is a concept car by Aston Martin, and a derivative of the Toyota IQ. It's purpose is to allow Aston Martin to comply with the strict emissions rule by the European Union, in place in 2012.

A production version of Cygnet would be trimmed at Aston Martin's Gaydon factory, with an estimated production of 1000 to 2000 units each year, from the end of 2010 onwards. Initially it may be available to current Aston Martin owners only, however it could later be made available to the general public."

Aston Martin iteration of the SAAB 9-2x

Same thing to me, just put your grille on, tweak a few things and you're done. NOT !

A Toyota masquerading as a "Lexus" is one thing. Now as an Aston Martin? I saw the mockups about 6 months ago and it is still a dumb idea today.
