Honda's NSX Plans Continue To Move Forward, Do You Want To See This Hit The Road?

Plans are moving forward for Honda to reveal its new V8 racing car in Japan, the HSV 010.

While the programme hasn’t been fully buttoned down yet, as we hear it, this new car – loosely based on Honda’s axed 'next NSX' project – is tipped to appear in January but will definitely be for track only.

Honda put a lot of time and work into developing a new front-engined V10 super-coupe, to go head to head with the Lexus LFA.

The car was seen testing and was close to being signed off when Honda pulled the plug in winter 2008 as the economic crisis hit, around the same time Honda announced it was quitting Formula One...

Sad that they moved away from the mid-engine design and look. I guess today, the "entry level" mid-engine serious sports-car title goes to Audi's R8.

I agree about the R8 I saw it on "Super Cars Exposed" and it is a hell of a car.

As for this NSX(N_ew S_portscar e_X_perimental) I think it should come out granted it will be in the 6 figure range I think the honda can outperform the LFA but thats just speculation right now. this car definitley needs to come out honda has been in the racing industry for years now and this car would prove how far they have come since the first NSX in 1990.

What do you mean by a "serious" sports car? Is the Lotus Exige not serious enough?

With 9000rpm/3200lb LFA I'm not sure if NSX can really outperforms. Per AutoCar:

"Honda boss Takanobu Ito has referred to the newly launched Lexus LFA as a "monster" at a press conference in Tokyo today."

That's the real reason NSX was held off and forced to take another route from GT-R and LFA, which is good, as no one(maybe not) wants just another Ferrari copy.

So the only way out is to make it MR!

true true I agree with you....but I still think honda will make this car for the street again and maybe they want to perfect this car even further by having it on the track for racing purposes. This car sold well for a 70k or 80k honda and it was a performer off the showroom floor especially with some simple aftermarket products exhaust, wheels & tires, brakes, spark plug wires...etc..etc.. This is still a favorite sports car of mine and one of the few japanese sports cars with a timeless design which we need to thank ferrari for.......

Almost looks like an LF-A under the camo.

Don't thank Ferraro for the design of the old NSX , thank the Japanese Ken Okuyama who worked for Pininfarina atthe time, he was the guy who did the Enzo also.

therefore no need to thank Ferrari at all, in fact Fearri were one of the first to buy an NSX when it was released, they ripped it up to find out how Honda did it, it pushed the ante on sports cars that could be used as everyday cars on both quality and ease of drving.. even your Granny could drive one..

So annoying, HONDA- MAKE UP YOUR MIND. Build it or don't. I don't have much faith that Honda can keep up in the market anymore, take a look at the crap hybrids and crosstour they have put out- hardly market leaders. NSX has such a small market right now, it would only boost Acura's image- which they badly need a boost in anyway. Come on Honda, show us what you can do! But make it good this time!
