Volkswagen's Winterkorn Says 12 Brands Are Enough....For Now
Volkswagen is unlikely to make further strategic deals in the near future, its chief executive signaled, suggesting an end to the company's recent spree which included the taking of a stake in Japan's Suzuki.

"There are some who knock on our door. Some really want to come under our roof as they see we're on a good path strategically. But we are satisfied with the current line-up. I don't see any need (for further M&A activity)," Martin Winterkorn told German magazine WirtschaftsWoche in an interview published on Saturday.

Uhh...are you really sure 12 is enough?

I like VW --- the powerhouse European autogiant --- and I like they are aggressively looking at their recent finacial & acquisition activity. The deals & purchases they've make really do make sense in both the short & long term.

Unlike an overly-wealthy GM buying Lamborghini and not knowing what to do with it or how to further develop it --- except to try to blend the legendary supercar brand in it's current brand structure of "share everything". Or the greatest disaster in auto history that (almost) happened --- Ford's pending purchase of Ferrari. I'm so glad those negotiations just flat-out collapsed.

Hopefully, VW can continue to develop each brand and keep their individual characteristics while sharing as much technology & components that make sense (and are not seen).
