Subaru Credits Success To Actually Listening To Customer Feedback

Subaru Credits Success To Actually Listening To Customer Feedback
Subaru, the car brand of choice for quirky, all-wheel-drive loving Northeasterners and trendy turbo freaks, is on something of a tear.

Considering Subaru's record breaking sales at a time when others are struggling to unload cars, the number four Japanese brand in America is doing downright great.

Most of the credit goes to recent upgrades made to three of Subaru's five model lines. Those upgrades reflect a renewed focus on America.

Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries of Japan, has mandated a tight focus on the needs of its single most important market, the United States. Executives in Japan instructed Subaru of America to pass along more customer feedback so Subaru designers and engineers could better hone in on what Americans want.

They shore as hell aren't listening to me because the Clutch on my WRX is as stiff as a leg press machine...Love the car hate the recalcitrant quirky clutch....The STI has a lighter one and more power...how the hell is this possible I asked the Service rep? He said it has a more zoomy hand made gear box and costs more that's why! UGH!!

the car brand of choice for quirky, all-wheel-drive loving Northeasterners. I don't consider myself quirky, but I am a NE'sterner and love my AWD. Even though it is not a Subaru. It just so happens people in the NE utilize AWD more than other areas. A 2WD SUV be it small or full size, or even a luxury car are pretty much useless around here in the winter. We don't live in a grid like most the other states, we have backroads (real backroads), with twisties, hills, bends, etc. I see all the testers drive in the desert or in southern Cali. If they want to put the cars in a real life test. Bring it up this way for some snow, rain, potholes, patched roads and the like. That's called real world driving conditions.

You are right on this!

I received a survey from Subaru a year or so into my purchase. Only thing I mentioned that I would really want was an STI version of the Forester. When it came time for me to buy my next car, Subaru not only failed to offer the Forester STI, they eliminated the manual Forester Turbo model. Subaru is selling more cars than ever, without my help.

I wanted a second Forester so that I wouldn't have to fight my wife for use of the car. The bright side, the Forester is so good that I am free to mod my G8 without the wife's input. She rarely drives the G8 :)
