If Ferrari Produced A Hybrid Would YOU Think It Is Sacrilegious?
According to latest reports, it seems the engineers in Maranello are hard at work preparing a Ferrari hybrid for the Geneva Motor Show. Yes, a hybrid.

Quattroruote is reporting that they expect the system to utilize methods that have been learned in the Formula 1 energy recovery system, KERS.

The system would operate on lithium-ion batteries, and an electric motor, that would recharge during deceleration and braking. This method is said to cut consumption approximately 35 percent in an urban cycle.

If all of this is true, I say "go for it." Without innovations and advancements, Ferrari will become extinct in future years due to tightening MPG and C02 restrictions.

But, we must ask, do you feel this is sacrilegious to the brand? We know the system will add weight and it may change the driving experience but is this a necessary evil in today's times?

Not if it uses a mechanical fly wheel or an electromagnetic fly wheel.

Well, it'll help every Ferrari equipped with the same 9000 rpm V8 and without added weight of V12 in front.

And it certainly helps Ferrari from corruption of FI engine like Porsche and BMW.

it shows that Ferrari, unlike the benchracer dunderheads on this site who put down all hybrids and toyotas with a kneejerk reaction, actually recognizes the WAVE of the FUTURE in advanced automotive propulsion systems.

they no doubt took note of the hybrid Celica that ran away from the field at Fuji Raceway a while back.

I think its a good idea. BMW gets 400hp and 450tq out of their hybrids, so why cant ferrari? Of course making sure proper weight distribution.
Also, they will need this to show the EPA they are being proactive so they can sell their cars anywhere. Every company has to do their part.
