2010 Bmw 535i GT with six-cylinder turbocharged engine coming to Detroit
For those who were waiting the new inline-6 engine to make its debut on the Bmw 5-Series GT, we have good news: the Bavarian manufacturer decided to reveal the new U.S.-spec model in January, at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.

According to Bmw, the new powerplant combines the turbocharging, High Precision Injection, and variable VALVETRONIC valve management in one engine for the first time. Also, it delivers an impressive 300 hp @5,800 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque from 1,200 to 5,000 rpm.

Wonder what the difference will be in performance and gas mileage exactly between the current twin turbo six and the new twin scroll single turbo with valvetronic- can't imagine it's gonna be a huge improvement in either but we'll see I guess- love my twin turbo 335i!

Over at the BMW forums, people are speculating that the main difference between the twin turbo on the 335i/x6 and this new twin scroll will be:
1) peak torque comes in a bit earlier (1200rpm vs ~1700rpm on the twin turbo) in the new engine. Another point was that the single turbo may be more reliable and cheaper to manufacture than the twin turbo which has had a lot of issues with high pressure fuel pump failures (including in my 335i).

CarCrazedinCali : your 331 Turbo is very economic, but the 535I Turbo won't, cause it is too heavy compared againt your 3 series.
