Should Lexus Produce This V10 GS-F And Finally Put Those Cocky Germans In Their Place?
Given that the latest Lexus GS has been in the market for a while, most of us have abandoned the idea of an F-badged variant of the current model that would compete head on with the Audi RS6, BMW M5, Cadillac CTS-V and Merc's E63 AMG.
But even though common sense says that, if Lexus wants to go ahead with the GS-F, chances are the automaker will wait for the next generation GS, Japan's Best Car magazine claims it knows otherwise.

An LF-A-inspired GS-F would be incredible, although I am curious what kind of price it would command.
The IS-F was a very good first attempt, let's cross our fingers for the GS to come out in the next generation.

thats my point exactly the new E63 and the current M5 both fall under the $100k MSRP. my thing is with the LFA your paying mostly for that engine of course but if this car is priced well over the $100k MSRP mark why not get a M5 starting at $85,000 or an E63 starting at $85,000 new
I think with that V10 and all the other technology they will put in it that it will easily go beyond the $100k MSRP mark and not only that they have to offer a complete package that includes handling, cornering, acceleration....etc...etc.

The GS-F should be priced the same as the M5 or the E63. No one will pay over 100K for a GS. It's already crazy the LF-A is sold for the price as is but the LF-A is more of an engineering showcase than anything. The GS-F would be sold for the masses so pricing has to be smart but at the same time not cutting any corners.

I agree 100%.......but with lexus you never know if that car can come in at $90k MSRP but I really dont think lexus will accomplish that i really think this car will easily hit the $100k but I may be wrong but I dont know especially if it comes equipped with that so-called 6-figure engine in there from the LFA.

The styling is definitely not to my liking. To me, it looks like a teenager got a hold of dad's car, and did a number on it.

Lexus needs to learn how to stuff a big engine under its hood without requiring a grotesque tumor. The M3 buldge is about as much as you'd want, and the M5 does not require one at all.

Have you heard of photoshop? (the developer, John Knoll is a client of mine)- well, this is "photoshopped". Noone has the slightest idea exactly what the next gen GS Line will look like, and won't until just a few months before its release in 2012.

there won't be a current gen GS-F. I'm willing to bet my life on it. Next gen? They better make one, and it better have the V10 from the LFA.

The LFA V10 lacks torque. Hence, it is not suitable for the heavyweight the GS-F would be.

we'll see about that. it will probably only be 500 lbs more than the lfa anyway

torque, shmorque! what do you expect out of an engine that is a mere 4.8 liters? a measly 10 cubic inches more than the classic small block chevy "283" but cranking out more than TWICE the HP!
with modern trannies, HP is far more important for SPORTING MACHINES. just have higher ratios in the lower gears, and it will outdrag ANY truck-like engine that favors torque over HP. it is hp after all, NOT torque, that makes for speed.
if you like TRUCKS, than continue to worship torque over hp.

Lexus/Toyota should first have the IS-F actually compete with the M3 before moving up the food chain with the GS-F.

meh...isf is plenty good. it loses to the M3 by a hair in both straight line and on a track. it is an awesome car to drive, people love it, hence lexus sells everyone of them.
every single car in that class is amazing. m3, c63, rs4, isf- all of them. you can argue which one is better by a hair till your face turns blue, but it doesn't really matter much in real life. it's all about fun, and isf is lots of fun.

Please tell me that lexus isn't going to give a car that is outdated, looks tired, and soon to be replaced the "F" treatment? Yeah that sounds like a recipe for success. LOL!! Even Audi was smart enough to stop doing that dumbness.
I fail to see the attraction towards Lexus in regards to performance related vehicles.

Germans Super Cars looks very nice...But Lexus Super Cars seems to me as bad plastic surgery for Mr Hide, right out from Van Helsing Movie. That Tumor over the hood looks means to me that the was no designed from the very begining thinking in the high performance version. Germans do that better cause that is forseen from the start.

It's very obvious that someone took a regular Lexus IS and put two inner lights and try to make it look like a GS. Clearly, it's not. Why are people commenting like it's going to be the real thing. No one knows what it's going to look like, yet. By the way, it's an ugly "photo chopped" render of the GS.

the new gs will weigh less than the current one by at least 100-200 pounds. According to Motortrend. And it won't use the LFA motor either- that according to Lexus of Europe. http://twitter.com/Lexus_Europe/statuses/7189614795 --confirmed. Either it will use an updated and more powerful IS-F V8 or a detuned not so expensive to make LFA V10
