The Japanese automaker has struggled with the fallout from the recall of 4.3 million Toyota and Lexus models for unintended acceleration linked to fatal crashes.
Toyota told federal officials earlier this month it would start fixing the vehicles now, but some repairs would not be ready until March.
According to a Free Press analysis of federal data, automakers recalled 15.2 million vehicles in 2009, a sharp jump from 8.6 million in 2008.

General Motors (a.k.a Government Motors) leads the way with being the most bankrupt car manufacturer in the world and robbing the most of taxpayer money in the world for 2009.

Former GM employees, like 1UAW, should really at least keep their mouths shut rather than attempting cheap jabs at Toyota (which employs so many Americans in this II Great Depression and does not ROB they taxes at the same time).

TOYO Motors (a.k.a Tacky/Ordinary/Yawn-inducing/Overrated Motors) leads the way with being the most deadly car manufacturer in the world and robbing the most humans of their lives.

Toyo fan boys, like downtoearth, should really at least keep their mouths shut rather than attempting cheap jabs at GM (which actually makes exciting, well-built cars and does not ROB lives at the same time).

Mason,

I don't need to fabricate anything. You can hop on the band wagon with badgewhore but it doesn't change what I say. I don't need to "back it up" either. I don't need to prove to any of you. I'm not going to scan all the paperwork and post it online. That is lame. You don't have to believe me. It's just a website. Autospies.com will not make whatever happened go away. I was just sharing my experiences. I guess some people are too naive. It doesn't matter to me. To each his own. If this site is based on boosts or de-boosts I've received much support from anonymous readers.

When you reach sales at a global scale like Toyota has it's bound to happen. While Lexus isn't known globally like how Mercedes-Benz is they've disappointed me several times already. I bought the car to be reliable. Turns out my S550 is more solid, holds more value, and turns more heads (which is a bonus).

I don't know maybe I'm just not a happy customer and the cars are still good or I bought a bad apple. In any case it doesn't matter I may be stepping away from Lexus for another generation. I recently placed an order for a 2010 911 turbo and I can't wait. My Lex is on its way out. With the Porsche's everyday I'll be able to drive everyday and still having a prestigious nameplate with great performance it's a win win for me. And if I want to cruise in absolute comfort I still have my trusty old Merc that hasn't done me wrong one bit.

Lexus I will see you in 6 years!

Mr. Toyoda! watch out for your Lexus production lines. The LF-A is coming out you don't want the everyday drivers to lose customers otherwise there won't be another LF-A type car in the near future.

I'm simply stating what has happened with my LS. It's not even my opinion but facts based on what I have experienced. I don't see why it should affect you so much.

I haven't had any problems with my S550. My LS has slowly worn down where my S hasn't. It's simply what I have experienced. There is a difference between being biased and facing reality. Reality is I had to deal with issues with the Lexus and not my Mercedes. Not to say others aren't super reliable because I'm sure they are. You have no grounds to talk down on anything I have stated. You are not me and you don't own the particular cars I have so you wouldn't know what goes on.

End of convo. This is pointless.

I have an S550, too, and I've never had problems of any sort with the car. My wife and I are also the proud owners of a W204 C350, which has also been very satisfying to us. Before the C350 we had an Infiniti FX45. This vehicle was satisfying but suffered from some mechanical defects (broken A/C - twice, oil pump failure, left-side rear door wouldn't lock and a number of other, smaller issues). I've owned Japanese, German and American cars in the past and I've actually had good experiences with all of them. Maybe I've been blessed with reliable cars for the most.

At any rate, in our circles we know many Mercedes owners who are equally pleased with their vehicles. The dark years of poor quality seem to be over and me and my wife will continue to buy Mercedes vehicles because of our pleasant experiences with them.

Agent63,

When do you feel it to be the optimal time to ACTUALLY tell us what was wrong with your LS instead of saying you S550 is more reliable than your Lexus. You aren't specific at all which leaves me to agree with Badgewhore.....Moreso if I had a Lexus and the transmission or engine went out or maybe I was having some sensor issues with the suspension, I wouldnt hesitate to tell the world: "My tranny went out, my engine blew, my suspension is broke"!

Stop making up things in hopes of fueling this fabrication. A Mercedes S55o more reliable than the vehicle that has had fewest problems per vegivles since 1991? (all approximate) I find that very hard toi believe.....Maybe if you said Audi or BMW, but Mercedes S550? LOL

A63: brother you don`t need to prove anything to anyone in the real world and especially anyone on a website. I`ve met you at numerous car shows and even at tracks in the Pacific North West. You are a fine gentleman and a very modest young man. Don`t listen to any clowns anywhere that want to talk you down. I can`t judge you by your cars but your energy and love for cars is noticed immediately by me and the fellow Revscene members.

Anyways, Lexus make good and reliable cars. The Lexus LS600HL is my favorite Lexus to date because of those nice headlights. A friend of mine owns a 2007 IS 350 and he`s had problems with the wood grain that`s in the center where the gear shifter is and various plastics in the car but it was nothing major. I still believe Lexus make good quality cars. One in 500 that is taken off the lot is still a successful number.

Anyways A63 I hope you come back to North America soon! I heard from Robert and Amish that you have been busy in Asia. Anyways good luck and give the Revscene boys a call!

Cheers and Happy New Years!

Message to all these moronic Toyota fanboys: Just because Lexus makes the LS doesn't mean it will automatically be 100% reliable. Go unto some Lexus forums and read about the problems that LS owners experience. Lexus are complex machines like their rivals. Things can and will go wrong. There is no such thing as 100% reliability when it comes to something as complex as a modern automobile.

LOL so now Toyota is like... Obama and Tiger Woods. Touche Badgewhore, I wish I could make comparisons like you. Can I guess a couple more of your comparisons? VW is like Hitler, and... GM is like Bush?

"Sure Toyota posted some major losses this year"

aka the largest loss seen by any Automotive company ever?

"Look at Porsche"

I look at Porsche and I see their cars as being equally over rated, Porsche used to make $23,000 per car on average. After raping their customers that hard, and getting so greedy to think that a 100,000 car a year company could buy VW led to billions and billions in losses and losing their freedom.

Porsche and Toyota should merge into an alliance of epic fail. Who knows, with Toyotas money and Porsches arrogance, they might try buying up every car company that sells 1,000,000+ cars every year.

Wow! what a lying story by Agent63 who confesses he has a LS460 and a S550. He first states that his LS460 has given him problems over the past several months, then he says his S550 is more solid, holds more value and turns more heads which is a bonus. Although I will give him a little credit based on personal perception and that is the S550 may turn more heads but that's from an external point of view. People who own those types of vehicles are not visiting Autospies.com and making comments you big dummy! They're too busy and dont have time to bash serious luxury cars like LS460 which has retained the title for being the best made luxury car in the world since it was first made back in 1990(starting out as the LS400 respectively). They own them with confidence and a sense of pride of ownership. Get a life Agent63...ya make yourself sound bad and sound ignorant.

Most entrepreneurs/people worth more than $1,000,000 that I know don't work hard at all. They get other people to work for them, hence why they are rich in the first place.

Your argument might have some validity to it if there wasn't wide spread unemployment. Not only can Toyota easily replace their current work force, but they can replace them for less then the cost of the current work force. This includes assembly line workers and engineers.

joe, obviously as huu says, you WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND the japanese mind. their culture puts PEOPLE ahead of profits and even productivity at times.

just read a book about where their gov't provides twice a day ferry service for 2 islands, one with only about 70 residents and the other, all of FIVE. the school has all of 3 students, attended to by NINE teachers. of course this is NOT cost efficient. but the gov't CARES FOR its people, unlike here.

likewise, on this recall issue. are ALL 4.5 million cars subject to 'unintended acceleration?" OF COURSE NOT.

there have been a mere few hundred complaints, and likely most of those were due to idiots unable to control their FLOORMATS, much less a complex vehicle.

nonetheless, toyota CARES enough about customers' peace of mind, that they are pumping MILLIONS OF BUCKS for this, even when it's mostly a USELESS exercise for most of the millions of vehicles. (IF nervous owners actually bring them in...)

yet it is not a TOTAL waste. provides add'l shop time and revenue for dealers and mechanics. courtesy of toyota's GENEROSITY to employees and dealers.

XYZZ, do you think hundreds of thousands of complaints are registered every time any other company makes a recall? No! For these large companies most recalls only get one in say... 20,000-100,000 people actually spending the time to write up a letter. Most people are oblivious to the issues.
