Do We Really Need 7 Variations Of BMW's 7-Series?
The 7-series model lineup is starting to look a little busy. BMW will be debuting two six-cylinder variants of its luxury sedan flagship at next month’s Detroit auto show, bringing the total number of 7-series variants to a shocking nine options!

Every 7-series sold in North America will have two turbochargers strapped to its engine, and every one-even the new base six-cylinder-will produce more horsepower than the first German post-war V-12 engine, which made its first appearance for the 1988 model year.

Which begs the question: which one would you buy?

How about a variation that comes with a full sized spare tire and wheel?

I would say no especially for your flagship model. anything under the flagship I can say yes because more than likely those would be the top sellers

i wouldn't call them variations....more like trim & powertrain options. a separate variation would be a coupe, wagon, or convertible version.

and yes, i do like having so many different options for the 7-series --- it saves bmw the trouble of creating (and naming) 2-3 more models to put the various powertrains in.

In a word, no. And the S Class will still outsell it. Nevertheless, I'd go with the 750 AWD.

assuming the 'we' are the people who actually buy the car. one doesn't spend $100k on a sedan to a) have the identical car as your neighbor or b) have the car precisely as you want it.

Adding Turbo chargers will dramatically decrease engine reliability.

It's called VARIETY and it gives people a choice. Having a choice is a good thing. Period.
