MORE LEAKED Pics Of The 2011 Honda CR-Z: Is THIS The FIRST Driving Enthusiast Hybrid?

Honda's CR-Z has been making a lot of noise lately, as its long-anticipated debut nears closer. After releasing the largely considered dull Insight, it looks like Honda is putting a little more swagger in its step.

Said to offer the first manual transmission in a hybrid, the CR-Z is already a winner in many circles. But, the Spies will wait until it hits our shores and we get a better look at the U.S. specs before we judge.

The latest still images are sourced from a video showing off the new hybrid.

Does this car interest you? With its futuristic exterior design, is it winning over your heart? Does the manual transmission make you want to check out this vehicle?

Let us know in the comments below, SPIES!

Carscoop reports:

"Continuing the
saga of leaks
, new photos of the production version of Honda's hotly anticipated 2011 (or 2010, depends on the market) CR-Z hybrid coupe have made their way onto the web. This time, we have a series of screen shots from a video that we have yet to discover. In JDM spec, the 21st century CR-X comes with a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol unit with an electric motor.

According to the official brochure that was leaked earlier this month, the petrol unit makes 114ps (84kW or 113 HP) at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 145Nm (107 lb-ft) at 4,800 rpm, while the electric motor, 14ps (10kW or 13.4 HP) at 1,500 rpm and 78Nm (58 lb-ft) at 1,000 rpm...

lol I guess you can say its a more sporty hybrid but it will be a complete failure to the tuning crowds.

113hp gas motor with a 13.4hp electric motor
0-60 in 9.7s
Price tag expected to be $20,000-$25,000

For that price, you can get an actually sporty car that gets anywhere from 25-35mpg.

The CR-V will attract environmentalists, not people who like burning rubber.

I will never ever give people who modify their cars to hyper mile the satisfaction of calling them a tuner.

A 2005 350z with low mileage and in great condition would cost around 15k.

Interior looks cool with buttons so it looks all techie. The exterior is a "bleh" for me. They tried that same appearance with the first generation Insight and I think that is the reason why it was a failure. Anyways it is what it is. Honda still make good cars just not the best looking cars. Something we have to live with for the next decade at the least.

From an exterior design perspective, this is one of the more original and creative design in recent years from the car industry as a whole. The interior design looks pretty busy though. No comment on the performance perspective. If it's going to sell for less than $23K, Honda may have just grabbed a new generation of college graduates that will move up the Honda chain as they get older.

I don't see the exterior as original, at least not in some aspects. The front end, for example, looks like someone took an entire Audi A4 front bumper and lighting assembly and grafted a Mazda RX-8 grill in place of the Audi grill. If anyone with photoshop skills wants to try, I bet it would come out looking pretty much exactly like that.

Not very sporty, although very efficient.

Like the exterior not sure about the interior but overall nice package.
But i think CR-Z would sell very well if Honda price it close to Honda Civic.

"The Japanese version of the CR-Z is said to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h (62mph) in an uninspiring 9.7 seconds."

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...huh...what. Oh sorry I dozed off for a sec there.
Just for reference here is the 0-60 time for the un-sporty Honda Odyssey. Get ready to laugh at the CR-Z.

For the lazy folks, the Odyssey Mini-Van does 0-60 in 7.9 seconds. So AGENT00R somehow believes that a car that gets destroyed by a non-sporty, big heavy Mini-Van in acceleration will cater to enthusiasts? LOL!

AGENT00R, Just because a car is small in size (and looks a little sporty) doesn't instantly make it a sporting enthusiast vehicle.

@Lex

I didn't say the car was an enthusiast car. I ASKED if it was.

I'll pass judgment when I drive it.

I agree with you. Just because you put a stick shift in a car doesn't mean you have the rights to call it "sporty," especially if it takes nearly 10 seconds to go from a standstill to 60mph.

Why are you comparing a midsized car to this compact car? And last I checked, if you did live in Europe, you could pick up one of those sardine cans with 130hp, 0-60 in 8.9 and 55mpg.

I believe the GS450h was the "first" driving enthusaist hybrid, 0-60 in 5.5

lol, it only gets 25mpg on the highway. Even the "barbaric" Corvette can beat that at 26mpg highway.

DOn;t forget where Audi gots its front end from.. the entire front end of any Audi is from old generation Honda Accords but with a Audi grill stuck on..

"the entire front end of any audi is from old generation Honda Accords but with a Audi grill stuck on.." - mpls

Until you can provide proof to back up your comment about Audi front end designs being ripped from Honda Accords your credibility is worth zero.

If the CR-Z represented a break-through design and hi-tech I could see Honda being lauded for this effort but based on the info I've read on this vehicle it is merely just adequate and does nothing in the way of being considered above its class.

- Funniest thing I've read so far this year! LOL!!

I think that you are the only person on the planet the believes that Audi got its design inspiration from a Honda Accord. That just sounds flat-out retarded.

The Prius may get better fuel economy, but it has zero sporting intentions whatsoever and isn't really part of this discussion. At least the tdi jetta has an entire racing series.

The Golf 2.0 TDI gets to 60 in 8 seconds, which is significantly quicker than the hybrids you mentioned.

As for the CR-Z, fuel economy should be similar to the Insight with a little more performance.

and yet the prius has a higher carbon footprint than the tdi lol... sucks when you go back to the source of nickel-metal hydride. Have you seen how they mine this stuff? Also hey my battery is dead now so I guess ill polute the earth with its NI-mh waste.

stupid i think not, Nickel mining is one of the most polluted mining of them all idiot. Yes they can recycle Nimh batteries but the metal goes into making steel not more ni mh batteries...in which we need to mine more ni mh which causes more pollution. Look past your hand goober.
