Arizona Speed Cameras FAIL, Is This Poetic Justice?

I usually deride the North Americans but on this Issue they are 100% envied by Me and millions of other Brits.

I never pay my Speeding or Driving & Talking on Cell Fines but I know of many who wish they could ignore theirs without affecting their Credit Rating or going to Jail.

Now if only i can find 2 Million or more British Drivers with a Backbone {Sigh}

Sorry to say but unfortunatly the British back bone has been all but extinct since 1990.

It was a tall, well postured creature that acted much like a weeble-wobble, where as one might knock it down,it would immediatly return to its ram rod position. Ever the envy of the Europe, especially France who has yet to find a native example yet despite millions spent on archeological digs in Normady. Always feared and respected by cultures all over the world, especially other small islands of the coast of Argentina.

Unfortunatly current Scottish programs to breed this rare and beautiful creature in captivity (the Scottish species known to be the strongest of the British "backbone" genus) have alas come to no avail as emissions programs and speed traps have provented potential breeding candidates from locating one another across the Isles.

So I ask all those cultures who still have the mighty back-bone running free to doff their hats and bow their heads for a moment of silence to remember the once proud and distinguised British Back-Bone. It shall continue to be mourned by the British people all over the world.

The last surviving example can be found in captivity at the London Zoo under the moniker "Margaret Thatcher" :-)

The perfect example where the very people supposed to be protected by the Health Care Bill are Opposing it because of what they heard on "Fox News" is all the proof the outside world needs to see.

The province of Ontario in Canada had mobile speed cameras for a while. They were so hated that they became an election platform, with the oposition promising to get rid of them if elected. The next election came. The then-majority government was voted out, and the speed cameras disappeared.

The stats clearly show that more vehicular indicents occur in build-up areas, OFF highways, than on highways, so if you want to reduce incidents, tagging drivers doing 10 mph over the limit on a highway is NOT a good way to accomplish that goal.

speed cameras on open roads are iNDEED just money-grubbing and downright STUPID.

a whole series of safety studies have shown that the SAFEST SPEED is actually ~10mpg ABOVE the prevailing average speed. (and the insurance industry as well as highway depts sponsored many of these studies! which naturally, were not publicized much.)

people driving AT the average, got slightly higher collision rates. and people going 10 mph slower got even more.

I hate hate hate LOATHE speed cameras. The worst thing ever invented by man. What's the point in making us slow down on an empty road? If a person is driving at a high speed, his concentration is much higher than an idiot sleeping behind the wheel thinking he's driving safely.

my neighbors once were in a cross country rally. ALL the way across, from florida keys to fairbanks, alaska.

most were in cars or trucks, and could switch drivers. the few on motorcycles did not have this luxury.

so i asked them, how they coped with long hours with no relief driver. they said, whenever they got SLEEPY, they started RACING EACH OTHER. NOTHING like elevated speeds to keep on ALERT!
