BBS MADNESS, Does The 2010 IS-F's Rims Make Or Break This Sport Sedan?
Rims, wheels, dubs. Whatever you call them, they can make or break a car. Not so certain? Take a look at this: the 2010 Lexus IS-F, sportin' new and improved rims.

While I genuinely appreciated the 2009 IS-F and its respective traits, one of the cooler aspects about the car were its dark, "samurai blade" wheels. Not only were they an intriguing design and concept, they had this unique two-tone look to them that really finished off the car well.

While doing some Ebay perusal the other day, I noticed that along with more standard features for 2010, Lexus has given its first F car a new set of rims.

Whether you like them or not, these are the ONLY rims that Lexus will be offering with the 2010 IS-F as confirmed with Lexus public relations. According the Lexus, these are the only set of wheels available.

Wheels are like shoelaces: buy the right ones and your shoes will look utterly fantastic, buy the wrong ones and you will look like an idiot. Granted, whatever floats the consumer's boat is fine, I guess.

What are your thoughts, Spies?

Are the new IS-F's rims "good to go," or should they get the heave ho'? Make sure to take a look at the 2010 and 2009 wheels below!

they look like they have the mickey D's arches in the wheel. it also looks like a knock off design of the mid 90's M3's sport wheels. If I go to pepboys I bet you i could find those wheels buy 3 get 1 free...lololol

they look okay - not fantastic - but if you are spending this amount on a car - you should be able to afford to put whatever wheel tire combo you want on it

Its funny you guys never question too much of the judgement of other brands...Why di Mercedes put these wheels on the car? Why did BMW chose to go with the deck lid LED light....Thank God for Sales.

@Mason

It was something that stood out to ME, thus I was curious what the AutoSpies audience had to say about it.

If anything else catches my eye, I promise you it will be presented to the AS crowd.

BTW, if you didn't notice, I wrote about Porsche's move to build the Panamera and BMW's recent product mix last year.

Not a big fan of these rims. I think there's just too much going on, and as a person who loves simplicity, this is far from it...

no question they stand out.

but for me personally, they look just TOO busy and cluttery. the earlier wheels look much cleaner, and better imo.

I like the IS-F rims from last year much better :). It's new and not-improved rims in my books.

The old ones looked much better, but these aren't THAT bad. They are okay.

On a side note, I wish BMW would offer the CS concept rims on the new 7 series. Or the Z4 coupe concept rims on the new Z4!

Maybe that's what the PR of Lexus USA is saying, but I'm pretty sure that Lexus will accommodate (knowing their excellent customer service) if you desire last year's wheel design. Cosmetics are important but equally as significant is that this car now has an LSD, which improved lap times in the Fuji circuit a full 2 seconds. That's huge. Maybe slightly underrated by the press, although their rarity (compared to the M3 - which are waaaay too common) makes them that much more attractive.

It's true, the 2009 wheel has that very cool Samurai blade design. Looks even more stunning in the flesh. Also needs to be mentioned that the C63 AMG still offers only an 18-inch wheel package for North America, while pretty much all competitors offer 19-inch. That's something that buyers in this category factor in.

Right, although the PR team insists these are the only wheels for 2010, there has been reports of forum members getting 2010s with the Samurai Blade rims.

So, who knows?

Regarding the 18'' AMGs, they may be better if they are lighter. Bigger doesn't always mean better.

I think they look good on the ISF, there arent many cars that could pull them off though, I dont like the looks of the ISF in general but thery seem to work well with the styling to me making the car look better. The other wheels sorta added to the fact it looks like a kids tuner car, instead of a high performance luxury sedan, the new wheels give it a more upscale and unique look.

The rims look heavy and awful (I do like the color though). But I'm sure there will be folks here that will say that those wheels are the nicest looking wheels ever produced.

I'm sure someone who has last years IS-F loves these wheels and is willing to swap with a person who has a new 2010 IS-F.

Not to mention Lexus HAS to make the 2009 wheels still for the cars that can potentially damage a rim (tire and rim protection package anyone?). So getting 2009 wheels installed on your 2010 IS-F is NOT impossible.

- Yes it is possible. Have you forgotten the fact that you can Purchase the 2009 IS-F wheels separately?

yuck

The first rims they put on it are some of the best on ANY car IMO - I love them - these are huge step down
