Spyshots: 2007 Mercedes E-Class

For a freshining up of the E-Class....more of the same but a little more updated.

As long as it's face still looks like a Mercedes (4 lights, not Asian-swoopy), I still want one. The current E-class has one of the most beautiful faces on any car today.

I see one very minor variation between the model currently on sale and the spy shots in the article. 2007 is a midlife freshen-up for the E, and if previous experience is anything to go by, the interior will get a make-over and the lamps may change. The shape of the car will remain the same. Not exciting!

Am I blind or crazy? This looks just like the 2005/2006. wtf?

First off, let me say that anyone who thinks Mercedes-Benz copied Lexus is wrong.

Second, let me point you in the direction of the 1970's Mercedes-Benz 230 E. It has dual-round headlights, in exactly the same vein as the E-Class. The only difference is that they are enclosed within a square unit.

The original E-Class designers obviously wanted to reinterprete that distinctive graphic, albeit without the square outer unit.

Argument over folks.

Round lights, oval lights, square lights, rectangular lights, triangular lights. Does it really matter who came up with what first? Sure the whole creative department will care but to the average consumer it simply would not matter.

What would matter is how the final product is produced and brought to the table. In this case it's the refresh of the 2007 E-class Sedan. It's a handsome sedan with luxurious cues expected from those at DaimlerChrysler. I am a Mercedes fan but just so you guys know I am not biased I love Lexus as well. Every top of the line auto manufacturer has their own pros and cons. We all learn to accept them and enjoy the vehicles.

The E-class doesn't have major upgrades or changes but some minor ones which are enough to make the consumer notice a difference.

No question the E class is the most ideal car. With a bit more leg room in the rear, it would also be the most perfect car! As I see it, the new front end needs a little more Mercedes class. Put back the three pointed star hood ornament. There is nothing more gratifying than driving down the road with the three point leading the way! I will always have a Mercedes in the garage and my present one lacks this distinction! Jer in Sarasota
