Is The Dehli Motor Show Painting A Picture Of The U.S.'s Future?
It is clearer than ever. The automotive industry is undergoing change. Not with me and 001 on this? Take a a look at the link provided and go through some of the photos.

Notice something?

All of the cars that are making significant noise at the Dehli Motor Show are smaller and have hatches. Long gone are the traditional molds of sedans and coupes. But, better yet...

Is this a precursor to what is going to happen to the U.S. market? Is this a brewing wave on the horizon?

Although it can be said that for the Dehli show there is more focus on stripped out cars with practicality, it seems as though the industry will be heading towards this direction due to increasing efficiency. Lighter, smaller and more practical, is this what you want to see?

I hope so. These SUVs need to be gone!

Even when gas was a buck a gallon I never understood America's fascination with SUV's and hulking pickups.

Personally, I have always liked the practical design of hatchback. I have always hated SUV. That aside, US market will never lose its sedans, SUV and muscle cars (not the same as sports car btw) for the same reason India will have their McDonald burgers sans beef. That's what sells here in the US. Having said that, US car companies will put more weight on unseen features such as lighter weight, smaller engine generating decent hp (somehow), higher fuel economy, etc. because US car companies will have to be able to sell in Europe and Asia to survive financially and those features are necessary in those markets.
