AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: First look-New BMW to debut at 2006 Geneva motor show

BMW is readying their 2006 Geneva motor show launch in a few weeks but we've caught some of the goods early!

Someone was pretty handy with a paint brush and artistically filled in a door handle and door cut-line to make this upcoming 3-door 1 Series look like a 5-door version! But even that talent didn't fool our photographers, who caught this 1 Series on the streets of Germany.



The 3-door version of the 1 Series is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks, but we're showing it to you here, first. Other?variants, including a convertible, are expected to follow. And - starting with the 2008 model - we may even find the 1 Series at dealerships in North America!

The styling is a little odd....proportion-wise. Maybe the coupe/convertible will be better.

It is right in keeping with the homely (in the American not the British sense) styling coming from BMW these days. I don't doubt is drives very well, but you have to look at it on your way to getting in the car!

I am not feeling this design by BMW. I do not think this model will sell great in the US market or Canada's for that matter. This is a mistake much like the guys over at Mercedes are making. Bringing out an A-class. I've only see one on the road here in my city. It's 40K CAD if i'm not mistaken. 40K i'd much rather look into an IS250, Acura TL, or a add a few more thousand bucks to get a 300C or G35.

This competition would be directly towards the Audi A3. Except one thing. The AUDI IS SO MUCH MORE ATTRACTIVE!
