Do You Really Believe The Suzuki Kizashi Can Take On The 3-Series Or Even The TSX?

Aside from the name, the Kizashi has “anonymous” written all over it: the styling is handsome but inoffensive, the spec sheet is solid but unremarkable, and Suzuki isn’t much of a household name unless you dig motorcycles. In spite of that, it’s a car that sticks in our brain as much as the catchy name. A lot of that has to do with the Kizashi’s size. As we’ve mentioned in a previous road test of a front-wheel-drive model, the 183-inch-long Kizashi comes in 11 inches shorter than the Honda Accord. Size-wise, the Suzuki is closer to the BMW 3-series, Acura TSX, and Volkswagen Jetta.

Suzuki wants you to think of the 3-series and the TSX when you look at the Kizashi. And for the most part it does an admirable job of playing the “luxury bargain” card.

It competes with the Jetta not the Acura. They are marketing it that way to generate buzz and b/s and it's inferior motor is awefull. Suzuki also is a hard company to get parts for if you have a friend who owns a body shop like me do to it's small size and recalcitrant parts procurement.

I just wonder who these "agents" are and what they know about cars. I enjoy this site, but there seems to be alot of articles written by "agents" who seem to write for the sake of writing or to stir meaningless controversy. Suzuki taking on the 3 series? What are you bored? Been fired from your job and have nothing else to do? Or are you just agent 001's son-in-law?

Er no. and the TSX doesn't "take on" the 3 series. Welcome to another slow day headline...Detriot can't come soon enough.

So far from a 3 series competitor, it looks very close to a Jetta from that pictures angle. It competes with the Jetta and like vehicles. As for the TSX, it's almost in a league of it's own. Based on it's price, performance, and such it barely scrapes IS territory. NOt sure who they are gunning for with it as Buick is even above this model.

| "Volkswagen has properly announced that it has "reached a common understanding to establish a close longterm strategic partnership" with Suzuki Motor Corporation. The union means VW will buy 19.9% of Suzuki, then Suzuki will spend half the money they just received from Volkswagen reciprocating by buying VW shares.

Beyond that, Suzuki gains access to VW technology and the comforting warmth of a hugely profitable big brother. Volkswagen gets a nearly turn-key solution to boosting its small car development and piggybacks on Suzuki's presence in India and Southeast Asia. Suzuki, and of course, VW, will remain independent, but unofficial word suggests that VW might increase its stake to 33% or more at some point down the road, which could shift the balance of power. It's nice looking, but I highly doubt anyone cross shopping a BMW is going to take a look at a Suzuki. C'mon.
