Rumor: Mercedes-Benz SSK AMG will be the baby SLS?
Do you think that the Porsche 911 would be threatened by a baby version of Mercedes-Benz’s SLS AMG Gullwing supercar? Mercedes-Benz is thinking exactly that as it develops this car.

A source said that the new sports car would have a shortened version of the SLS supercar’s platform. It would copy its aluminum construction and use V8 power but instead of lift-up doors, it will have the conventional front-hinged access to make sure that the price is below $200,000. The two-seater, which is speculated to soon be known as the SSK AMG, is on track for a 2014 launch.

Could this be an SL replacement? 2014 is a long way off. I am kind of stumped...

Goign SLS design route is not a good idea. SLS only looks good and the only speciality is the Gullwing doors. Remove them and you have a very ordinary design left.

Ordinary design? How can anyone who stands in front of such a car call it "ordinary"? It's a retro-styled 1954 300SL and it doesn't look "ordinary" at all. It looks sleek and sporty like a sports car should.
