DETROIT AUTO SHOW: First Pic Of Next Gen Ford Focus Slips Out In Detroit One Day Early
The new Ford Focus won't OFFICIALLY be unveiled until tomorrow at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show but it looks like the first shot of it has slipped out here in Detroit.

As I was having my morning coffee checking out the newspaper I saw this shot of the two models cloaked on the Ford Stand.

But up in the right corner, you can see an official Ford press photo of one of the front headlights.

You can also make out the silhouettes quite well, see that there will be a sedan and 5-door hatch plus one of the doors is uncovered.

Plus some show employees who requested anonymity say they've seen it and say it looks like a cross between the Taurus SHO and current European Focus.

They say there will be an electric version and expect 12 new models by 2012 built off the platform.

And it looks REALLY hot!

We say, as of now, it's poised to be the car of this year's show.

You'll see the full rollout over the next few days but we wanted you to be first seeing any leaking information or photos.

Remember, SPY before you BUY!

The Focus is a nice enough car, but after driving a 2009 SEL version back in November, I can declare that I don't particularly like them. The interior of that model was a disaster in ergonomics. I had particular concern with the cruise control, radio, sunroof, gear selector, and the quality of the plastics. It had a peppy engine for sure, but the drum brakes at the rear lack class and bely the budget intentions of the maker. Unless Ford can do better than this with the new model then the Focus will just be another Ford product that doesn't impress me. And for the record, pretty much everything that Ford makes right now falls in that category.

The current Focus is a joke that missed the mark horribly for buyers other than rental fleets. We should have gotten the European Focus and Ford realized this, they just fed us the same Focus we have had (tranny, engine, etc.) with new panels. Thank god we finally get something reputable.

The Focus gives you great value for the money, I look forward to see what improvements they made on the new model

The focus? Then why does it say the new LS line? The cross advertising is horrendous here. Keep the ads somewhat relevant to the articles please.

that being said, the projector headlamps will be a nice upgrade a la Mazda 3. Something Toyota, Honda, Nissan could all use considering projectors are better for lighting. Maybe they will have an HID option too.
