2010 DETROIT AUTO SHOW: CEO Says Audi Will Deliver Over 1 Million Cars In 2010

Volkswagen's premium brand Audi beat its own retail target last year and aims to repeat its record sales level from 2008 by delivering 1 million vehicles to customers in the current year, its chief executive said.

"We are making a lively start in 2010 and aim to deliver 1 million cars again," Rupert Stadler said in a statement issued at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit's Cobo Center.

Audi sold 949,700 vehicles last year, a decline of 5.4 percent over the record high set in 2008 but nonetheless easily beating its recent target of 925,000 units.

No doubt about it, Audi is on a roll. Great cars, great positioning.

They need more Audi dealerships. In the 1+ million city I live in there are 2, and both are positioned in the corner of a much larger vw dealership.

This "all Audis look alike" refrain is getting tiresome, especially from the enthusiast crowd--the very same one that will drop a small sum getting some "sweet" rims for their car that, news flash, are round and have spokes like all other wheels. I would expect those comments if my wife had a forum, because she couldn't tell the difference between a BMW and an Audi were it not for the grill and the badge, but not here.

Anyways, most luxury-car buyers, when shopping different-sized cars between makes whose cars look quite similar, but appealing, and those whose cars look different, but ugly (often because the designers are trying too hard to create the illusion of variety), will usually buy the appealing car.

Yeah, I'll do that. Or, at least I'll try to be pithy like you. I leave you with this brilliant and entertaining quote:

"Ha ha ha"
