DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Lexus HS250h Blinged Up. FLY? Or Does It Make You Want To CRY?
As I worked my way around the show floor at the Detroit Auto Show one car that was hard NOT to notice was in the Lexus booth.
I had to ask myself was I in Detroit or at SEMA because front and center was a totally blinged-up HS250h in the sea of Silver Lexus tranquility.
I sat back and watched people walk by and I will tell you this, NOBODY walked right by and EVERYONE had strong opinions, some good and some bad.
In the car biz one would say it was very polarizing.
Now that Detroit has seen it, what do YOU think of it?
Is it FLY, or does it make you want to CRY?

I am having a hard time deciding if this ricer mobile or the yellow ricer mobile in the back ground hurts my eyes more.

1/2" tire sidewalls, low rider body kit, chrome, tacky wheels. You don't call these things bling?

lol Badgewhore. Look closer, a even a stock lambo has beefier tires than this thing. It's tires are at least twice as wide as this hybrids as well. Don't start arguing they have the same shit because if they did, the hs250h's already lame fuel economy would drop below 30mpg. I disagree about the Camry SE comment as well, the Camry can make it over speed bumps without its girly skirt getting ripped off. Also, I can't believe you are arguing about rim quality, not only that but having an opinion that it is better based off of... nothing really lol.

Is that a Lexus or a Corrolla with a Ford grille?

Looking good to me. BTW Here in Middle East Lexus have introduced two new kits for 2010 for two of it's models. RX and LX. Both can be optioned with sports kits. The first Lexus to receive a sports kit was 2008 IS300.
We all know refreshed for 2010 LS also got an optional sports kit (or sporty variant in some countries with own badge).
So HS sports kit seems normal to me maybe not to many in US. As here in middle East, Lexus already added two new sport kits for RX and LX with refreshed LS sport to follow. It is very likely in the near future all Lexus models will receive sports kits.

oh my, you actually like this? then again, the middle east is ground zero for overdone, tacky homes, cars, palaces, malls, etc.

Jugnu thinks that cars like the Mercedes SLS are of an "ordinary design" while this riced out Toyota is obviously world class and "extraordinary".

Its kinda like putting 24 inch chrome rims on a van. Some things are just inappropriate!

this makes the stock hs250h look downright sexy, which is saying something because the stock car is the ugliest, most awkwardly proportioned car in production, IMO

This thing looks proper, tire to body clearance is decent. I mean, aren't ppl tired of seeing too many BMWs on the road? my girl has a '08 528i sport pack, then within my family/relatives there are 3 or 4 more 3 series, lost count, either some of u folks are from somewhere that doesn't have many BMWs or...don't know, cuz where i'm from, your chances of getting run over by a BMW is VERY high. Ever heard of leasing? lease a BMW and get it outta ur system, I did. '06 530i SMG.

Ford stole the grill from them.
The grill debuted on their HFS crossover concept long before the Fusion.

I never said HS is world class or extraordinary design. I think it looks okay considering the price. SLS is different matter. That is 200K+ Supercar and it should look like one.

That is a completely baseless comment. Not everyone shopping for an SLS wants something extremely flashy. The car looks good and it looks EXPENSIVE. So who cares "if it doesn't look like a $ 200K car"? Commenting on how a car doesn't look like $ ____ is plain stupid. Should I take your analogy and use it on the Lexus HS? It surely doesn't look like a premium car to me but an overpriced Toyota (because of the Avensis it is based on).

OMG Lexus Sux and saying it makes me feel better about myself!
Seeing as this is a pro-BMW site I find it makes the most sense if we post more articles on Lexus than anything else. Yup. That makes sense.
