SPIED: Cadillac EXCLUSIVE, The SPIES Have The FIRST Photos Of A Possible SYNC-Beating System
With the other blogs talking about how depressing the show was and other web sites posting bad photos of an upside down Ram, the Spies were out finding the little details that actually matter.

Now, a lot of you must be wondering. With Ford leading the industry in the best in biz system, SYNC, where are the other guys? Particularly the guys across the street, General Motors. They must have an answer, right?

You would be correct.

Thing is, no one is talking about it and currently GM is keeping pace with the competition in Dearborn. It is lacking that groundbreaking, game changing system. Until today that is.

Apparently the firm is not that far behind and they are confident in its new product. We do not have a name for it, but when we spoke to some key people about beating Ford's system, they simply replied "just look at it [in the XTS]..."

Of course we could not play with it as it seemed to be in a demo mode within the largely static XTS. It certainly looks fascinating with fluid movements and a very attractive graphic user interface.

The question we have to ask ourselves is "does GM have what it takes to beat the SYNC system," and "what will it do next that will ensure it passes the innovative SYNC technology?"

Real nice and advacned interiors are coming now from the American cars.

I hope that the Japanese and the Germans will catch up with the fast tech pace of those new cockpit designs.

I wonder if this stuff appeals to the video-game generation.

Does this system beat Fords MyTouch setup?

GM seems pretty confident it is far more advanced...

But it is GM's tech. It isn't like they would be dumb enough to go "Here's our newest, greatest stuff. But you should SEE how awesome Ford's new setup is right over there".

Sorry, I dont get it. This article does not provide any specifications of the GM system. The new Ford system will allow Iphone like apps for the car. Apart from putting a screen above the steering wheel, what does this system do?

When we asked them if they are working on something to compete they told us a system coming soon from them would be more advanced.

No details, but they made the claim.

So we reported it.

Who would manufacture it? I would be concerned with reliability. Looks pretty expensive to replace if something goes wrong.

@0to60: Clusters are already expensive to replace when they go wrong so there should be nothing new to worry about here! LOL

But on a serious note, I would love to see a video of it in action.

I been in a few Ford rentals lately and sync is not better than Acura's hands free link (one of the first in the industry)but than again maybe because I was not the everyday user I wasn't getting the full benefits.
