BMW is ‘cautiously optimistic’ on 2010
BMW AG expects that the group will have a single-digit growth parallel to what the industry in general will experience. However, BMW is “cautiously optimistic” for the year 2010, according to sales chief Ian Robertson who spoke with reporters at the Detroit Auto Show.

BMW group sales increased by 10.1% in December but for the entire year, it experienced a 10.4% drop, which it says is “smaller than expected and ultimately relatively moderate.” Robertson said that the German car market as a whole would be “very challenging” in 2010 as sales could fall by as much as a million units.

They have to. If they want to survive and they will need beautiful cars as the new 5 series and stop ugly expensive cars.

Yonder7: Unit sales figures show there are lots of buyers for BMW cars, even though many people feel they are unattractive. There are folks who want BMWs, none the less.

I'd be optimistic as well. Are these numbers world-wide or just North America?

Although the 5 series is new (and nice looking), the volume 3 is at near the end of it's product cycle. Most of the other new cars are high priced niche autos which I cant imagine helping sales increase much.

Anyone notice the 3, 5 and 7 all look similar again like late 1990s? As opposed to early/mid part of the 2000s where they all looked "unique"
