Ford says it strengthened its position as Europe’s No. 2 automaker last year
Ford Motor Co. expects that in 2010, its total market sales will significantly decline. Last year, Ford had reinforced its position as Europe’s No. 2 automaker by unit sales with a 9.1% market share in its 19 main European markets, a 0.5 percentage points increase on the previous year.

This result is actually its best annual market share in these countries since 1998. Of course, Ford came in second to Volkswagen AG. In a statement, John Fleming, Ford of Europe CEO said that it still gave a “great performance” during a very difficult year for the European auto industry.

Speaking of Ford and we have mentioned the new Focus. I have not seen a lot on the Fiesta. It is out in its production form, coming in summer 2010 as a 2011 model. Available as a hatch AND a sedan, and comes with a 1.6L 132hp I4 and six speed manual. Not to mention SYNC, navigation and keyless.

I am not plugging for the car as it is too small for me (looking at the 2012 Focus very closely). But when you put in the competition of Yaris, Fit, Versa, Accent, etc. this car would have leading hp, much better looks, and the availability of a useful hatch and sedan. The Versa and Yaris don't quite work in sedan form.
