Audi Gets Nod As World’s Most Expensive Car, $80 million
Deusenberg, Ferrari and Buggati are all fine automobiles, and all might logically hold the label as the World’s Most Expensive Car. However, the most expensive car in the world might not be the classic that readily comes to mind. According to a feature in, all of all publications, the Jamaican Gleaner, a newspaper in Kingston, Jamaica, the most expensive car in the world might just be an Audi.

Business reporter John Myers Jr., details that Issa Transport Group (ITG), the Kingston representative for Audi, has an Audi A8 Security available via special order for $80 million.

Deborah Stewart, Audi brand and sales manager at ITG, says “Given its features, the A8 Security is ‘reasonably priced.’ “

The Audi A8 Security sedan has “standard” features such as full-cage outer-body armour certified by the German Federal Police, run-flat tires, gas tank and battery armouring, double-mirror interior, emergency door; silky-soft power-adjustable leather seats, refrigerator, retractable rear-seat tables, heated wind screen, multi-zone climate controls, and a slate of other comfort features.

The car is more than three times as expensive as the nearest luxury security equipped rival.

According the newspaper, here are other examples among the world’s most security equipped luxury cars:

* The Mercedes Benz S500 — $24 million. The S500 is equipped keyless ignition start, premium-leather ventilated massage front seats (rear seats optional), eight-way power-adjustable front seats (rear seats optional), parktronic with rear-view camera, night-view assistant, multizone climate-control system, blind-spot assistance, and 20-inch AMG sport wheels, along with a range of optional features that can be selected by the buyer.

* BMW 761i and Audi Q7 4.2 V8 SUV — $23 million.

* BMW M3 — $16 million.

* Land Rover HSE V8 $15-$17 million.

* Audi A8 sedan Q7 — $14 million.

* Cadillac Escalade — $14 million.

* Hummer H2 — $14 million.

* Audi Q7 3.0 V6 — $11 million.

* Range Rover Sport V6 — $9-$11 million.

* Chevy Tahoe (Hybrid) $5.7 million

* Chevy Avalanche $4.4 million.

Even in that case it still sounds expensive!...the Obama's limo doesn't cost that much! Unless you have a US drone tailing your a$$...who could need that much security?!?

I'm sorry, are they serious? Maybe the consumers that actually paid for those stratospheric priced-security vehicles had a gun pointed at them...at that very moment at purchase.

Now, I'd like to see a list of people who actually paid for one (don't care about security firms --- the purchase may make sense for them --- as they can rent their armored security vehicle out w/a trained driver and make those funds back).

These prices are all wrong. Anybody do any fact checking here? This article need to be removed. As an example, armored version of the BMW model line run for $50-100k more, depending on what you get.

When car's get more expensive then Gulfstreams and Lear Jets the cost benefit analysis seriously goes to zero. You will get laid more in a jet anyway especially one with a bed flying to an island! Girls don't appreciate cars as much as free vacations.

Why am I not surprised at Audi overpricing another vehicle.

80 Million(assuming USD), you are one fool to pay that price for an armored Audi that could barely protect against a standard grenade.

For that price, I would get a S600 for 150k, 6 M1A2 Abrham tanks(6million a peice) for 360 degree protection and 1 AH-64 Advanced attack helicopter(16million) for air protection and still have close to 20 million to spare. Or, spend 3 more million and get an F35 fighter jet to get to and from work.

Link to article isn't working, but it probably is 80 million Jamaican Dollar(JMD) which is literally equivalent to .01 USD, which is still ~900k, but a bit more reasonable.

$80 mill for this POS? Don't think so. I would invest into something more meaningful...for example...Happy meals.
