Ford F-150 to receive 3.7-liter V6 engine found on the Mustang
The Ford F-150 will benefit from a new six-cylinder engine given by the Ford Mustang, according to a report from PickupTrucks. This engine will join the 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 that will enter the stage this year.

The EcoBoost powerplant uses direct gasoline injection and twin-turbo forced induction. This results to good fuel efficiency while still offering a power that rivals the V8. The source added that it’s likely that the vehicle will retail for a higher price than other V6 units offered in the past.

Now if they would put a twin turbo diesel in there then we would be in business!

you do not need a diesel option when 95% of this trucks life is cruising around town.

why not? by that logic you don't need a sports car... ever.

Actually a diesel option would make more sense than most of the engines in the line up. In every other country in the world, diesel engines are standard fare in light duty trucks with gas engines the obscure option - if it exists. It just makes more sense.

they had a 4.5 litter diesel slotted for the F-150 they were working on but they had to cancel with International because of long term reliability issues. This si why the new 6.7 litter diesel is being developed in house and costing ford massive bucks because it needs Urea injection and has a lot of new toys and graphite iron instead of grey iron, the turbo is mounted on top. I know it is frustrating but that is just for the super duty's.

I guess this move was obvious since the Ranger will be discontinued after 2010 and Ford has no replacement in the works.
