Breaking: Honda wants to develop a better Prius

Honda Motor Co.’s R&D staff is being challenged by CEO Takanobu Ito to develop a hybrid that exceeds the fuel economy of the Toyota Prius. The result won’t necessarily be the next-generation version of Honda’s Insight hybrid but perhaps be used in another vehicle in the Honda lineup.

In an interview at the Detroit Auto Show, Ito said that he wants to “develop and expand” its hybrids and that “major sacrifices” were made on shifting people and resources to do so.

Seriously!...Good luck Honda! Even if that happens you'll get seriously trumped by Toyotas marketing might not to mention what Toyota will do to the next generation Prius. The current Prius is already years ahead of the current Honda??? whatever it's called. Leave it alone Honda Toyota is just waiting and baiting you to challenge them on that Prius thing. Man that their game right now dude! Honda got slaughtered last year challenging the Prius.

Bullocks! Even the simpletons at Car & Driver had a comparo between the two and with a straight face rated the Insight over the Prius. I canceled my subscription the next month.

tryme I wouldnt be too sure about that...Honda is Toyotas rival and Honda knows it cant afford to fall too far behind so they must periodically come up with something because more people defect to Toyota than the other way around. That's not because of any kind of quality issues, it's just Toyota basically has a wider range of cars and trucks to choose from. So Honda is basically too small to compete with a giant like Toyota on that level.

Yeah dlin you're right Honda is lost, but not totally and no they can't afford your wants, the S3000, NSX, and God knows you aint gonna get...ever...a RWD Acura cause there aint no money for that request pal. Honda is too busy tryin to keep up with Toyota and runing out of money trying....that's a joke guys. Honda is doin fine.
