Chrysler considering a new assembly plant in U.S. to make Fiat-based models
There’s a possibility that Chrysler Group will build a new assembly plant in North America to make Fiat-based models. At the Detroit Auto Show, Scott Garberding, senior vice president for manufacturing, revealed that this is only one of the options that they’re looking into.

A number of locations are being studied but Garberding declined to identify them; he also won’t say when the decision will be made. It could also be that some of the Fiat-based models will be made in its existing factories. Chrysler plans to sell some vehicles based on Fiat platforms in North America.

It will jack the prices up too much because the euro is Higher then the dollar and they will ave to pay 2.5% import duties on top of that!

America? Nooooo...More Like Mexico

Peugeot Citroën had purchased property and had plans for a plant in Mexico...which they would now like to unload...Since they are now trying to buy a controlling interest in Mitsubishi

US cost of living is lower than Italy. Maybe they are looking for cheaper labor but still want quality in their products?
