AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: So much for the idea that the new Tahoe's and Yukon's would be immune to discounts for the first six months

One of the biggest pieces of hype we heard in Detroit from the GM people was how the 07 Tahoe and Yukon would not be significantly discounted for the first six months or so because they anticipated the demand to be so high.

Well, it's back to reality for the General.

Most dealers we surveyed are discounting the new models significantly to move them off the dealer lots.

Check out this ad from Saturday's Arizona Republic:

We followed up with this dealer (Midway GMC) and confirmed this deal was real.

But they were using false advertising tactics as well.

If you look at the ad, it also says 'And you keep the rebate'.

Unfortunately, for customers, there is no rebate on 2007 Yukon's.

We also called their sister Chevrolet store who told us that they would BEAT the $88 over invoice deal AND waive the $100 doc fee!

We smell low financing rates and rebates right around the corner...

Don't forget, the safest way to make sure you're getting the BEST deal on your new car is to use the AutoSpies.com buying service.

Yeah I am not surprised one bit. I said it would only be a matter of time til those who could either afford to buy one or those who could trade in their current car without being too upside down since residuals dropped that this would begin. I am surprised though that it was THIS SOON! So much for these vehicles bringing GM out of the red....guess these SUVs are not the saviors once thought. I know here where I live they have quite a few sitting in the lots....I havent seen this deep of discounting yet here though.

Wtf do you care what you pay over invoice? Its the biggest bunch of crap. The dealer makes all of his money on the back end anyways, so the invoice is never what the dealer ends up paying for the vehicle.

GM is now the company that puts up an inflated price and is always having a sale kind of company now.

So you are lumping all of GM into one add? I dobt Gm even knows about this add. Did you call GM and ask them about this. You do know that GM does not have control over the dealers dont you?
i know they have some control but if a dealer puts out bad advertising its not GM's fault.
Just another chance for you to bad mouth GM. By the way were is the spy shots of the new Silverado? I saw it in my 4-Wheeler mag. Were is yours?
How come you never talked about the Avalanche? You can see it on the Chevy website right now. I never read anything on it from Auto Spies. I guess you were to busy looking at the Audi's.
