Before everyone jumps at blaming GM for Saabs dmise, look no further than Subaru. Subaru had its 'heyday' for cool cars under GM's watch. Now that Toyota is in charge, they are selling more, but none I'd seriously consider. The STI is great, but insurance premiums are nearly 1/2 the cost of the monthly payment. No thanks.

IMO, Subaru should buy the Saab name and use it for higher end models, similar to Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, Honda/Acura. Subaru is the only company that could offer products similar to Saab prior to GM, with quality and reliability necessary for success. Bring back a manual for the Forester Turbo for christ sakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subaru was not really under GM. GM owned a small percent (20 or so) in Fujitsu Heavy Industries that owns Subaru and many other things. That would be like saying Ford owned Mazda, while they may have had controlling interest they didn't own it outright.
