Feds Indicate They Had To TELL Toyota To Halt Sales Of Deadly Vehicles
Federal auto safety regulators said today that Toyota Motor Corp. was legally required to stop selling the eight models it recalled last week.

Toyota took the extraordinary step of halting the sale of the vehicles late Tuesday over issues of "sticky acceleration pedals" because it hasn't yet found a fix. Those eight models accounted for nearly 60 percent of its U.S. sales last year. Toyota had begun looking at the issue of sticky pedals in 2007.

The new administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, David Strickland, said today Toyota's decision to halt sales "was an aggressive one and was the legally and morally correct thing to do."

Lol, This is what I stated in the last article. "According to news reports this morning, Toyota was legally required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to stop selling the cars. It's not clear at the moment why Toyota waited five days to do so. Whether their move to suspend sales came yesterday or last week, the effects of the news will be massive for the automaker".

That's the way things work, just think of how many more people were smart enough to shift into neutral.

It's funny how the toyota mouthpieces are ignoring this part, and spinning the stop-sale to make the company look like the precaution was THEIR idea. I just saw a newsbrief with a quick interview of a toyota sales manager where he claims, "this shows toyota's commitment to their customers; they put lives over profit."

Riiiiiiiiight.

What a debacle.

1st It's the floor mats, we'll fix it with twist ties.

2nd It's Its the gas pedal we'll fix it with a saw

I fear the truth is;

A. we don't no what the hell it is.

B. I too expensive to fix.

Where is Toytota mistress Consumer Reports in all this, "Hey Toyota are reliable except when the killing people.

What a debacle.

I looked at your link, where are these other recalls that have happened this week?

the only thing that doesn't make sense of what you just said, is the fact that you totally missed the point of this article. This wasn't a voluntary action! and until Toyota does manage to come up and implement a solution they will be stuck unable to make any sales. There are many japanese people/companies who are very pissed at toyota right now for making a mockery of the perception of japanese quality.

Is huu76 and Badgewhore the same person?

Probably not. They write with a different tone. Huu tends to be more likely to explain things vs Badgewhore says what he wants in 1 or 2 sentences. Also I think Badgewhore is more active on the board.
