AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: Will the be another R32?

The Spies had our ears to the ground this week after we test drove the new VW GTI.

After driving it all I could think to myself is what would the new R32 be like.

So I jumped on the phone and made so calls and I heard things...

The voice at the other end of the line told me there would be no new R32.

When it makes its return, it will have the moniker R36.

BRING IT ON! That will be HOT! VW rocks and the new GTi shows VW is on the right path. The new EOS will be nice as well and hopefully the new small-ute will also be a winner.

That would mean substantial re-working of the suspension, chassis and engine bay just for the American market?

Where's the logic behind that?

Is a 3.2 V6 not good enough for the US?

I've also heard "rumblings" that the next R32 stateside will actually be an R36 with the 3.6 litre V6. That is one hot hatch!
