Pedal Supplier Claims No Fault And Is Already Starting To Ship Replacements
The Indiana-based firm that built accelerator pedals for Toyota linked to the automaker's recall and its decision to stop sales of eight models said Wednesday that its pedals have been involved in "fewer than a dozen" incidents of sticking accelerators.

"The products we supply to Toyota, including the pedals covered by the recent recall, have been manufactured to Toyota's design specifications," CTS said, adding that it had worked with Toyota on a new pedal "to meet tougher specifications."

"The newly designed pedal is now tested and parts are beginning to ship to some Toyota factories," CTS said.

I think they are just a scapegoat and Toyota trying to save face. If you "google" Sudden acceleration and look at the page under "Searches related to sudden acceleration" the first three are "toyota unintended acceleration, lexus sudden acceleration, and prius unintended acceleration". It Toyota doing what it does best, blaming someone else for the problem. In this case it's the American supplier and not the other Japanese mades cars. I'm sorry but it almost smack of anti-americanism.

So the fact that the "Sticking Pedals" were manufactured by an American Manufacturer is " An Anti-American Ploy" by Toyota ?

Nowhere in either article is there any mention of Toyota trying to blame the Pedal Manufacturer for not sticking to Design Specs.

I've heard of people like you but this is the first time I've seen your work up close.

Could you imagine if another Manufacturer...say Ford, used the same pedals?

I believe that would be a breach of contract on CTS's behalf, sharing Ford with Toyota's design.

Actually Ford stopped production of a truck in China that uses a gas pedal assy built by CTS...

Funny you guys should mention that. Ford just halted sales of some of their cars overseas (don't know which ones yet) for using the same gas pedals that were supplied to Toyota.

Ford is looking at less than 2000 vehicles worldwide but has yet to have experience any of the issues that Toyota's had according to Mullaly on CNBC at Noon today.

Funny I should mention that....no sh@t. The vehicle ford has stopped production of is sold in NA. Fedex uses the same pedal in some of their delivery trucks.

The cause most likely lies in the pedal design (Toyota). The manufacturer (CTS) would only be at fault if they didn't manufacture the pedals in accordance with the design requirements.

Knowing Toyota's penchant for quality, I think that its safe to assume that the pedals were being manufactured in strict accordance of the design. Thus, the problem is a design flaw and Toyota's responsibility.

The CTS pedals are bad, but the Denso ones are good, which is what Lexus uses. CTS is American and Denso Japanese. Lesson for Toyota, make your cars in Japan or Germany because we suck at manufacturing. Americans are too busy gorging themselves on easy credit and making a fast buck.

LOL I like how it took an American made part to fuck up Toyotas reputation. Shoulda stuck to their own kind wouldn't have had this problems let the americans build american cars with american parts so we know what NOT to buy.

This is making all the senses. No wonder the 6 speed auto transmission in my X3 is so horrible, even BMW says it's the way it is. The transmission is from GM, that's why! The agenda is to fcuk up BMW's reputation too. Go LOL again.

WTF yeah right! Looking at new BMWs they got great styling, quality materials, good fit and finish... BMW inline-6 engine that's impressive... Hey what is that GM transmission doing in here?!? It jerks and stumbles like shit and all BMW can tell me is no error codes and therefore no fix. WTF?

Pontiacs? You mean the Pontiac badged matrix? lol, that is entirely a Toyota design. If anything, it's shame on GM for falling prey to the assumption that japanese means quality.

In the end it is toyota's quality system and engineering that is to blame! Doesn't matter who makes the part.

As a subcontractor and supplier, the pedal company does it's own R & D on the pedals, not Toyota.
Toyota goes along with this because is cheaper.

The problem part comes from one U.S. supplier and does not affect Toyota models that use parts from other different suppliers. Toyota's Japan plants are not affected. The few Camry’s and Corolla’s made in Japan are not affected. About 90% American market Camry's are made in the US, Australian ones made in Australia, and the rest of the world are made in Japan.
