House Committee Formed To Seek Answers From Toyota About Customer Complaints
A House committee has begun investigating whether Toyota Motor Corp. and its top executives, as well as the Obama and Bush administrations, responded adequately to customer complaints of sudden acceleration in Toyota vehicles.

Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., chairman of the House Energy Committee, today expressed dissatisfaction with responses given by Toyota representatives yesterday to committee staff.

He sent letters asking both Yoshimi Inaba, president of Toyota Motor North America, and David Strickland, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, for extensive records dating back to 2000.

Toyota and NHTSA were told to supply the documents by Feb. 12.

How dare the government get involved? Toyota should be allowed to make as many dangerous cars as they like.

Good for the government, It is a very suspicious situation, first the floor mats, then the floor design, then the pedal design, now the pedal assembly design. It looks like toyota does not know what the root cause is and it is good that the government is putting pressure on them to figure it out.
