Spies Predict Who The Big Winner Will Be In The Toyota Debacle
This is arguably the hardest situation Toyota has ever had to face in the history of their company.

The USA media is licking their chops becuase they are all reporting that GM and Ford will be the big winners here but the Spies know the REAL story and it is just NOT true.

Who are the biggest winners?

The KOREANS!

Hyundai and KIA

"TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Japanese auto makers slipped Monday, while those of South Korean rivals got a lift on hopes the recent woes of Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. will be a market-share boon for them."

Funny how the media always paints the Toyota vs. Big 3 story but we say, if Toyota doesn't watch out, the story is going to be the Koreans doing to the Japanese what they did to the Big 3.

SPY before you BUY!

Good call, 001.

The way Hyundai and Kia sales have been trending, there is no reason why they cannot pick up the slack.

Yes, because if you can't drive a Toyota product then you might as well walk!

Note the heavy as iron sarcasm.

Ford will grab a slice of Toyota's market share and they continue on their roll. Too bad the Focus isn't out already.

Ford will pickup steam, but Hyundai will really roll with this.

001, you've failed to prove your claim. your prediction is based on what investors in Tokyo are doing, not what American consumers are doing, which is the topic at hand, from your own article:

"TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Japanese auto makers slipped Monday, while those of South Korean rivals got a lift on hopes the recent woes of Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. will be a market-share boon for them."

Asian investors are betting on the Koreans, but you wouldn't expect them to invest in American car companies, regardless of the situation. This has no impact on what cars Americans will decide to purchase in the immediate future, or any other time.

I'm sure I'll get deboosted for this but. . .
Has anyone stopped to think how great it is that Toyota would stop production for this???
I mean, Ford is STILL using cruise control switches that cause the vehicle to spontaniously combust! Yet they won't stop because they have millions of them in stock and have to use them, "we'll just recall them later, one at a time. . ."
Mean while, Toyota won't allow a faulty part onto their vehicles!
It's rediculous to me to think that people would blame Toyota. No one makes a perfect machine! Yet the companies that do something about it are the ones I support. I don't feel unsafe driving my Toyota, even if it had a CTS pedal.
That is how Toyota has always been, from their first loom! It was revolutionary, how it would stop at the sign of a defect. And still today, that's what they are doing, stopping because of a defect to make it right!
That is how their production lines work; a process most manufacturers are trying to implyment yet don't like because it costs them money. If any line worker spots a problem, they can instantly stop the line to have it fixed!!! And even those other brands that have, do not allow it to the extent Toyota does!!!
This makes me see that Toyota is truely dedicated to making the best product!!!

That's one way to look at it. Another way is that Toyota wasn't aggressive enough in tracking down the source of the problem until it became a media item that they could no longer afford to ignore. This corporate damage control.

Those UAW slobs can't build lasting cars and they never will.

The sooner the UAW are gone the better off American car companies will be.

I see no reason why the Detroit 3 won't gain from Toyota's woes. Though the Koreans obviously will gain, the American will as well. To some degree.

Everybody and their mother (including the dog) are suddenly car experts and writing off toyota. Yes, this has beena PR nbightmare. But Toyota is still a top tier manufacturer. Will it hurt in the short term .. yes !
Will hyundai kia take off ... probably not .. they are closer to nissan in sales then Toyota . As far as quality is concerned .. only time will tell. Hyundai's foray in asia is a mized bag as far as long term ownership is concerned with considerably lower life then Japanese products.

As far as the domestics are concerned the UAW friendly Obama admin NHTSA has pushed exploding F-150 air bags into the background while focussing on pressure on Toyota. Toyota will pay the price of American discomfort for overtaking the domestics .. through increased scrutiny .

I see American cars gaining in sales just as much as the Koreans brcuase the avergae guy/girl that is not informed about where Korea or Japan is on the map let alone who makes what will confuse the two and buy American just to be safe. We are only talking a short time on the ban so it will only be a few thousand cars since it is the winter months and not the summer when cars really roll of the lots.

BTW a few months back being fed up with Toyota I bought a Chevy for its longer warranty and better gas milage over the Camry. I dont look to who or where the car is made but I shop for best value at the time and am very pleased with my Chevy Malibu.

Did some one really try to use length of warranty as an point????
And they also think that the MPG ratings are accurate as well????
Listen UAW, as long as they keep using ancient push rod technology, they can't compete! DOHC as well as dual variable valve timing will better both power and mpgs. Ford is barely starting to use this and only on one vehicle.
Toyota has it on almost all their vehicles!!!
Yes, this makes sales difficult but it does not disprove their quality! Or their desire for it!

You may well be right. During this long and hard recession, every car maker has been hit hard. Well, except Hyundai and Kia, and strangely, Subaru. People have notice the Korean cars in a big way, long before this Toyota situation. And now with a shadow cast on Toyota's previous prestine image, I believe Hyundai and Kia will be noticed, even more.

Since this is BMWspi...er..Autospies, I predict the winner of this outcome will be BMW. There flawless approach to design and performance alongside their outstanding customer loyalty and service leaves them unbeaten by anyone who ever tried to create an automobile.

That being said, I could go for another article about the 335.

I see Nissan and Honda gaining sales with the problems Toyota is having. With Lexus, I see Infiniti picking up there sales, as Infiniti is RWD and think people will stick with RWD over the FWD Acuras.

Calling Toyota engines anemic is an absolute ignorant statement!!!
pickuptrucks.com
Tundra Crew Max 5.7 4X4 0-60 7.16
based on pictures I'll list GM's performance
Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Z71 4X4 0-60 7.04
Hooked up tp a 6500lb trailer:
Tundra 13.92
Chevy 14.20
Observed fuel economy
Tundra 16.26 mpg
Chevy 14.77
The Tundra's mpgs were only .5 off the "ANEMIC" F-150 which 0-60 time was a stagering 8.96sec!!!

What does this all have to do with this post? I don't know, but obviously thought is not put into everything that is posted!!!
And as for warranties. . . Please!!! Go get something that is warrantied for life! I'll take the vehicle that is over enginered from a company that will stop production when they find something wrong versus a company that will have the dealers worry about it later so "we" can keep making them!

(And I didn't even get into the brakes!!!)

Toyota stopped production because they had to by law. They should have fixed the problem long ago. As far as your performance comparisons, The american trucks {chevy and ford] you mentioned are heavier [stronger] which is evident in times and mileage. I would rather have a truck a bit heavier when towing a 6500 lb mass. 1/4 mile time for a truck mean nothing. American trucks are the best.
