Apple Co-Founder Believes Toyota's REAL Problem Is Software NOT Mats or Pedals

Apple Co-Founder Believes Toyota's REAL Problem Is Software NOT Mats or Pedals
More problems may be lurking for Toyota. Speaking at an event in San Francisco on Monday, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak waxed eloquent about a "very scary" problem with his 2010 Toyota Prius.

Wozniak was speaking at Discovery Forum 2010 when he went off topic for a few minutes and spoke about problems with his 2010 Toyota Prius.

"I don't get upset and teed off at things in life, except computers that don't work right," was his segue into the Toyota comments. Then he said he had been trying to get through to Toyota and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) for three months but could not get anyone to explore an alleged software-related acceleration problem--as described below.

Invisible-

You have no idea how many bad PR articles on Toyota I turn down every day. A good example is we have not covered one of the many class action lawsuits about this whole mess. To me they are piling on in a way that encourages bad behavior from the populous.

The simple fact is, WHEREVER you go this is big news and will get the press until the whole story is told. It will pass and Toyota will recover, just have faith.

He is correct, unintended acceleration has been observed in cars that are not built with the CTS pedal. In this respect it is probably the drive-by-wire electronics causing the unintended acceleration.

I mentioned this a few hours by posting a reply before I saw this article.

The oddest thing about this whole situation is the fact that we are all too quick to look at the simplest causes and write them off. That would be great if they were linked to most of the incidents. However both the pedal and the mats are only linked to a VERY small number of the total cases. These leaves 99% of the cases with some other linking factor.

Are you speaking out of your ass? Or can you explain to me how Toyota cars supposedly know how to tell when a throttle position sensor isn't putting out the correct signal?

No love for Toyota over there generally, but this article gives a little clarity to Woz's cracked out claims. Once again the blogoshpere is filled with half truths and misinformation to sensationalize a story beyond anything that could ever happen in the realworld. I'm surprised TTAC would be a voice of reason here. Not surprised Autospies only reported the sensationalized story without the caveats.

Whatever the problem was they need a DEEP goverment investigation to really know what happens , also they have to explain clear to customers.
Yesterday on Cannal 22 a argentine man owner of Kendall Toyota Dealer in Miami explain a complete reason of the problem and he said that everything is fine and just one car was affected....what happens with the other 20 people death and other 200 cases and the 4.5 million cars.... I think he is worried about the sales at the Dealership and that why they said all of this explanation in cannal 22 at 8.15 pm in Maria Elvira program. The president of Toyota explain to all customers the situation and was complete different that this morron explain in cannal 22, is very sad to see a person to show and put his face on TV to say something that is not true wow...... What is the true in all of this...........by the way I don't have a Toyota but I feel worried for my friends too.
