Japanese Government Orders Toyota To Investigate Prius Brakes

Japanese Government Orders Toyota To Investigate Prius Brakes
The Japanese government said Wednesday that it had ordered Toyota to investigate a possible defect in its newest Prius hybrid model after receiving 14 reports of brake trouble, another blow for an automaker already embroiled in its biggest-ever recall.

The drivers have complained that the brakes on their Priuses have momentarily stopped working when driving at low speeds, especially on slippery surfaces, said Kenji Sato, a transport ministry official in charge of recall policy.

In one incident in July 2009 in Japan, a Prius collided with another vehicle at an intersection, hurting two people. Ten of the 14 complaints in Japan about the new Prius, which went on sale here last May, came in January.

Prius Brake investigation? I didn't think these things went fast enough to even warrant brakes. Maybe if people didn't drive around with a left foot on the brake all the time or constantly brake them for no reason to get that stupid regenerative thing on their screens, there would not be any brake problems. morons.

Remember where I said that Toyota would recover from the the brake pedal issue as long as nothing else cropped up? If the Prius brakes are proven to be a real issue, this will be the nail in Toyota's coffin. They can kiss their reputation goodbye.

I wonder how those that are critical of NHTSA's supposed "heavy-handedness" view the Japanese agency's ordering Toyota to investigate Prius' brakes.

Toyota just forgot what made them a hit in the quest to be number one.

OMG. I feel sorry for these Toyota guys. The bad news about the old giant won´t stop! And the "magic" quality feel is destroyed. Tree hugging can actually become dangerous without working brakes ...

But you can wait for the blind Toylex fans to explain to us, that the drivers are / were stupid ... Ignorance is at the moment their favorite way of living.

Toyota is now number one for the worst reputation and quality, then again if you don't use your brakes you might get the posted fuel mileage.

So what will really matter now to the people buying or owning the prius: safety or ecofriendliness?
