The mocking has already started with late night celebrities dishing out the first meager punches.

However The Daily Show with John Stewart has taken it to a new level with his Toyotathon of Death skit that recently aired.

Is this just misplaced skit done in bad taste or just the prelude of things to come?

If you asked me a year ago if ANYTHING like this was going to happened to of all brands Toyota, I would have though you are off your rocker!  My what a difference a year can make!

I stopped watching the Daily Show before Obama came on the scene, Jon Stewart is an ass of the umpteenth degree and now uses the show to more promote the new president and his jerks than a pure comedy news half hour. I'll stick with watching Food Network.

I love the shot of Toyota President Toyoda jumping into an Audi. I guess he figures they know how to fix a sudden acceleration problem

Quite funny and, in this age of YouTube, quite exacerbating to Toyota's PR woes. Audi can thank its lucky stars its unintended-acceleration fiasco (however unsubstantiated it was) didn't happen in current times. They might have pulled out of the North American market.

Even if Toyota ends up being vindicated somehow, the damage is being done. Their name is becoming synonymous with "unintended acceleration" and that bell can't be "unrung". Good luck to them.
