SPIED: Audi's A7 Caught In The Wild, Does It Have The Potential To Be COOLER Than The R8?
Without question, one of the coolest designs to come out of any studio was the Audi R8. It was unique, intriguing and futuristic without looking like something from that awful movie, Judge Dredd.

I like to compare it to a Technomarine watch.

But, Audi is not done with their handy work. Although the brand has largely been criticized for its similar looking sedans, it seems the company is going to break that trend with the all-new A7.

Said to derive a portion of its interior from the flagship A8, the A7 will likely have a tasteful and high-class interior design. If you have not seen the 2011 A8's interior you must get a look in person. The usage of varying textures, and solid fit and finish is outstanding.

Will this add up to make the A7 one of the greatest Audis of all time?

Autocar reports:

"These are the latest spy pics of Audi's new A7.

Development of Audi’s luxury coupe is ongoing in northern Scandinavia and it will be launched later this year before sales start in 2011.

The A7 will provide Audi with a rival to the BMW 5-series GT and Mercedes CLS and it will slot into its range between the A6 and A8.

Autocar drove the Sportback concept late last year and Audi's head of exterior design..."

I wouldn't doubt that the A7 will be pretty slick, but not as captivating as the R8 (with whatever engine). And the "rumored" R4 will be decidedly more awww-inspiring at its release (due to its mini-R8 exterior design & pricing range).

Though it seems like Audi is expanding too fast. The brand is carving a unique set characteristics into its lineup that better differentiates it from the other VW sport, luxury subsidiaries.

There are a few things that I can guarantee about the A7.

1) It will cost more than the vehicles in which it competes against
2) It will be slower than the vehicles in which it competes against
3) Its engine will have far less power than the engines on the competing vehicles.
4) It will get the same fuel mileage as the competing vehicles (which have more powerful engines).
5) It will have forgettable wheel designs.
6) It will have a nice interior.

And oh yeah.... The "RS" models that were just mentioned, are the most expensive cars in thier respective classes. But hey... the interiors are nice.
