Chicago Auto Show: Camp Jeep, a 25,000-sq.-ft. indoor driving course

At the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, expect nothing but the best from Chrysler’s display despite it not having much of a display of new products. No one will argue that the biggest attraction would be the Camp Jeep, a 25,000 sq-ft indoor driving course.

Those who attend the show will get a five-minute passenger ride on the track, chauffeured in the Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee, and Liberty. The highlighted obstacles include an 18-ft hill, a section that simulates driving on fallen logs, and a 45-degree wedge. The purpose of having this on- and off-road track is to display Jeep vehicles’ ground clearance, traction, stability, articulation, and suspension.

We had Camp Jeep in the DC auto show couple yrs ago. Now they're not doing anymore I guess because of the economy. :(

I would love to see the driving course, this is a great idea, and I would love to hear that they would challenge other manufacturers to drive it too, although if the liberty and the station wagon 4x4 can do it,it couldn't be too challenging, 7 years ago I drove on the chevy off road course, It was probably for the H-2 and H-3? I drove it in two wheel drive in my 1993 4-runner with open diffs and an OLd Man Emu rear suspension articulation kit that boosts the rear wheel travel to an incredible 15 inches,lol although I used up all of the wheel travel because the front wheel travel in the Toyota's are so limited, but still a very easy course.

I've seen them at the NY Auto Show. not on this scal, but they had teh steep incline and logs. Then outside they had a huge display where they parked all the models on high inclines on a makeshift mountain. Impressive.

I wish I could go, I think that Autospies bloggers should all meet at the shows! Why not! there may be a few punches thrown,lol, in the end we would not cyber bully each other as much.
