2010 Chicago Auto Show: Spies Bring You The 2011 Infiniti M Up Close - Are You In Lust For It Or Did They Veer Off Track?
The mid-size executive sedan category just continues to get more and more cramped. The latest addition? The all-new-for-2011 Infiniti M sedan.
Naturally, we shot the hell out of it
and even captured exclusive images of its navigation system
. But with the latest competition from the Germans, namely the all-new 2011 BMW 5-series and 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-class, which will be able to claim rights to the best mid-size executive sedan?
Wearing a brand new look that provides a sense of continuity and flow, the new M looks like it has gone through an evolution while progressing ahead of its last generation M.
But, we want to know what YOU guys think. Did Infiniti hit this nail on the head or have they missed the mark? Do you find yourself staring at the innovative finish on the wood trim OR does the M not speak to you?
Let us know in the comments below.
Remember, spy before you buy!

Im impressed so far... Can't say I notice the "special" finish on the wood trim, but looks tasteful- and I usually don't care for wood trim...

I agree. It's somewhat overwrought especially the shape of the dashboard.

Like Infiniti's Ms before it, this one really has no presence. It's OK and the interior looks well done but the car just doesn't raise my blood pressure...even a little.

Looks hot. I would take this over any of the other cars in its class. Good job Infiniti!

The back is actually alright, and the center dash doesn't look that swollen but rather helps make the interior look warm and welcoming. The front has an executive appeal, but from every single angle, I keep getting the feeling that the designers either finished designing a bit too early or... kinda ran out of ideas. The real life pictures are a lot better than those press pictures though.
Hopefully, all that metallic accents in the interior don't give an obvious feeling of plasticy-ness. That would really suck.

The interior trim is nice, I'll give them that. Otherwise, it's a joke. The front screams maxima with a gigantic infiniti grille plastered on, the swoopy curvy side angle is pure hyundai, and that rear is a failure.
But at least they gave it some curves, unlike the blocky boxy e-class.

I like the styling a lot. Looks like a bigger G37 with little Mercedes CLSishh design in the rear end but still to me it is at least in the top 2 of it's class in terms of design.

It depends on the wheels..if the wheels are too small the body of the car looks too puffy...if it has the bigger wheel option the car looks great.

I think this is much better than the Lexus GS which is really looking old.
Nissan has been really low key but evolved their designs nicely from Maxima to 370Z. I like how they tweaked the Altima to make it nicer. The M will be a hit.

The exterior of this car, particularly the rear end is appealing, while all I can say about the front is that I can live with it. The bulbous curve of the front fender may complement that which exists in the rear, but it doesn't work as well in a sedan as it does in a coupe and it pulls the intended elegance of this car down a half notch or perhaps a full notch, for me.
The interior is another mix of emotions. The Infiniti practice of fitting a lovely analog clock to the centre of the console still grabs me. The wood looks well appropriated. The downside is the guages. The numbering on the speedo and tach belong in a Nissan 370Z and not in an Infiniti. There should even be a hint of calligrahic effort in them. Take a look at the lettering of a 1990 Q45 and you'll see what I'm talking about. The digital adornment showing gear selection and a few other bits of data is very low rent.
Would I buy? Probably not. But then again, maybe I would have to see it in person. Some cars are like that.

I like the interior....it looks luxury but the exterior screams of Hyundai azera!

Wow, I didn't realize Nissan sold the Infiniti brand name and design studios to Hyundai.

beautiful car, but design looks too similar to old one, this looks dated already :(
