SPIED: Mercedes-Benz's Next-Gen S-Class Is In The Works
Autocar reports:

"These are the first spy pictures of the new Mercedes S-class, due on sale next year.

With the car at an early stage of its test development, it is still wearing heavy camouflage. As a result it is hard to draw any definitive conclusions about its styling. However, it is safe to assume that the protruding headlights are a decoy, as they wouldn't pass pedestrian impact regulations.

However, Mercedes previously showed the F700 concept as long ago as the 2007 Frankfurt motor show. The S-class-sized saloon had several exaggerated styling features, including a low roof and huge, elongated cabin, but details such as smaller headlights and an upright grille could make production.

It's also known that Mercedes is planning a plug-in hybrid S-class..."

I hope they get rid of the "MAYBACH LOOK ALIKE STYLING" thats what really threw me off with the current S-Class tooooooooooooooooooo much maybach in it which made the MAYBACH look cheap too me rather than an exotic luxury sedan.

It looks like they did get rid of the MAYBACH body cladding which is a plus for me at least and it looks like its going to be very clean cut and alot less edgy looking. the way a Flagship sedan should be.

well since the sclass has been out it was the unique car of its class UNTIL, the MAYBACH which mercedes borrowed heavily from to create the current S-class. I guess the current 5 series looks dated now but after having a run of 6 years what wouldnt.....i guess you can say the same about the 6 series.

But to me the current S-class has always looked dated because the maybach had the design first so to me it looked dated after the first week of its release and it always will look like that to me. I guess BMW should take thir next 7 and make it into a Phantom right....204E60.......

I like how they are returning to the bigger and blockier look for the S-Class. This type of car needs that kind of presence.

I am a proud owner of a 2007 S550. I think the car is not dated and is one of the best sedans in its class if not the benchmark. It has always been in the forefront of hate and envy from a lot of other fan boys.

I think the S-class competition is very stiff and the others offer great alternatives as well. They are after all, flagship vehicles, so it's expected to be high quality and the most luxurious, which they ALL are. 7 series, LS, Jaguar XJ, and the Audi A8.

M53R: Mercedes did not copy the BMW Dash, in fact I think they are a lot diferent and the Infrared Screen in the Merc is located where it should be. Also the ilumination in the Merc is Better at night, However analog instruments in the BMW are better during the day, specialy when the sun is over the instruments. Those Dashboards are completely diferent dude.
