GM will add a second shift at Oshawa to keep up with the Buick Regal demand
To cope with the demand for the Buick Regal sedan, General Motors Co. is adding a second shift in the fourth quarter to one line of its plant in Oshawa, Ontario, for North American production.

The move will open up 700 more jobs. Production of the sedan will begin in the first quarter of 2011. The 2011 Regal will actually be introduced in the second quarter, with stocks imported from Russelsheim, Germany. The Regal, essentially a rebadged Opel Insignia, is developed on GM’s global mid-sized front-drive platform. Currently, the Oshawa flex line produces the Chevrolet Camaro.

I love it when AMERICAN car companies take forever and a decade to bring their best cars to us. Ford and GM are nortorious for this. This is why you lost the battle with the imports years ago. You forgot about us the American consumer.
Now build the dam things and sell them here.

Maybe they finally learned, and don't want to produce vehicles that have the same copy/pasted problem across their entire lineup?

DO you mean with an issue that can easily be fixed with the replacement of the floormat? They should honestly die if they couldnt use their mind to fix a trivial issue.

Not really, I mean the other floor pedals that need replacing.

Why have fatal issues in the first place?

It´s interesting to see that the germans know how to build a highly competitive GM. Bring us more of this german technology!

Same technology in the Malibu and other Epsilon vehicles. The only difference is this one had more money spent on the interior.

Shocking that a global company uses the same things in its global cars isn't it?

There can easily be demand for a car before its out. Some limited edition cars sell out before the first one touches our shores. The waiting list on many cars is 1+ years so you never know maybe people have been interested or asking dealers about the car and thats why they think it will be a good seller.Maybe you can even order one now for delivery when they start coming in. Not sure, but it looks like a decent car.

Yes, you are correct. Let's face it though, it's a Toyota Camry competitor, a 4-door family sedan. Family sedan's don't generally create massive amounts of demand and pre-order's month's before initial sales are to begin. That happens for cars like Camaro's and convertibles.

So the best that GM can do is bring over a German car and slap a Buick badge on it?

Since when was this a bad thing? There is no difference between rebadging an opel and rebadging any of their other brands.
