Take THAT BMW, Lexus And Mercedes-Benz: Does Audi Have The Last Laugh?

Take THAT BMW, Lexus And Mercedes-Benz: Does Audi Have The Last Laugh?
**Thanks for the tip, IAmEvilHomer**

The marketing gurus at Audi are at it again and they are not being so civil this time around. Instead of mocking classic films or having a movie star pilot a sport sedan, they are cutting right to the chase and are getting to brass tacks.

In the first spot, Audi targets the Ferrari California, Lexus RX, Mercedes-Benz C-class and BMW 3-series. Their answer: the S4, Q5, A5 and the R8 V10. Additionally, the advertisement goes on to say that Audi is growing at a faster rate than BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz.

Then the second spot really ups the ante and throws it in BMW's face. The theme is "There Is No Room For Second Place." The brand cites three recent Car And Driver comparisons where the S4, A6 and Q5 beat out BMW products.

It is going to be very interesting to see the rebuttal from the targets.

Is this genius or could this very well blow up in Audi's face?

those are pretty nice, I like them. As for what BMW and Mercedes will do as a "rebuttal" I imagine they won't respond at all. Should they choose to, however, BMW could always cite the other million or so magazine comparisons where they came in ahead of Audi and end the commercial with "congrats to Audi for their three". And before I get flamed, yes, I know Audi has won comparison tests before, but if Audi is going to ignore BMW's previous wins BMW can do the same to Audi.

I'm guessing BMW, Lexus, and MB are complaining about the use of older models, but the common people won't understand that rebuttal.

Fantastic ads, kudos to Audi. As for the cars- they are good but it's a little too early for Ingolstadt to be breaking out the champagne. Car buyers today are a very nasty n' fickle bunch and as their tastes go so does the market..........

That the worst ad..first they benchmark their rivals and then throw dust on them through advertisement using third party(Car and Driver). and as always Audi always seems a cross breed of merc and bmw

This insecure ass company gets on my f'n nerves. But I suppose I should just laugh at them like the rest of the industry surely does. Three comparison wins, seriously? After years of playing 3rd fiddle, they think they've suddenly arrived? They're just as deluded and inferiority-complexed as their buyers.

But, since I'm bored, I'll show how they have selective memory:

And thats just in the last year. If they REALLY want to get owned, there are tons more.

If you want to talk insecurity, stop and read your post. It reeks with insecurity. Why else would you get so worked up over something like this? It's just cars!

And "growing at a faster rate" translates to "we're finally selling something." Considering how lame the numbers are, they should shut their mouth about that, too.

No, growing at a faster rate means gaining market share. Last I checked that was a good thing....

No, it means "for years we haven't had crap to offer" and "the crap we have now sells in tiny numbers compared to the real luxury brands in the US, but we'll spin in it to make it look positive."

Here you are Tatted, confirming your insecurity again by posting your biased opinion multiple times on this thread. Why do you feel so threatened by Audi's success?

VAG group has always been insecure in it's advertisement.. In the early 80's they were making what one would now consider as racist adverts on TV about japanese cars and their comparison to VW.. Why can't they sell on their own merits rather than outright citation of probably bought opinions ??

True Dat!!! Other than that, Audi has been flying under the radar and providing some pretty good vehicles with cutting edge...

If Audi is a better ride (performance, handling, etc) and better value than BMW, then why isn't it beating BMW in sales?????

It is. Audi sold more Audis worldwide in January than BMW sold BMWs.

Yet another spin; they sold marginally more worldwide, because the 5 is on its way out and supplies are low. With new models coming this year, they will continue to lead, whilst audi stands around throwing hissy fits and tantrums, and makes more insecure, childish ads, because they cant catch up.

Why is it always about sales volume? Is Toyota better than BMW because it sells more?

I never paid any attention to AUDI, but I really like the direction they are heading. With Porsche in control, I'll say they can do it if lightweight construction and RWD can be offered.

Audi is working its way into the club in the US. They've been there for years in Europe and Asia, and with the onslaught of product will eventually get there here as well. The ads are effective.

Why Audi used last generation Lexus RX? and RX doesn't offer 4 cylinder option so RX is not a direct rival of Q5. RX category falls in between Q5 and Q7 but okay we can say RX competes with Q5 but Audi at least put new RX in your advertisement.
BTW i like this new style of ads from Audi, they look very confident and proud. Can't wait to see the replies of MB, BMW and Lexus.

audi can say what ever the hell they want, bmw, mercedes and lexus all have WAY better lease deals and as long as that continues, no one in America will know what Audi really is except for car nuts..

twice now i have tried to get into an audi, and both times they priced themselves out..

if you guys ever pay attention, most audi A4 that you see on the road are 2.0 versions, you hardly see the 3.0 OR s4 cause they never have deals on them, you will pay the same amount for the 2.0 as you will a 335xi, and the bmw will destroy the 2.0

i love audi, but their prices suck!

Funny is one thing however, the Audi commercials are designed around two FACTS:
1. Audi is growing faster than MB, BMW and Lexus.
2. Audi has placed ahead of BMW in three different Car and Driver comparison tests.

What facts are there to back up the funny BMW ad you refer to?

There are amazing ads out there but these are not part of that group. I always have trouble with companies who boost themselves up by bringing others down.
Show your strengths! But this is showing your weakness.....

Bottom line: This isn't newsworthy and barely worth discussing; it's an ad and very few intelligent people will base their purchasing decision on ads alone.
