Ferrari's Just-As-Fast-As-An-Enzo 458 Italia Gets Reviewed In A Prancing Horse's Worst Nightmare: Snow
The Los Angeles Times reports:

"Reporting from Maranello, Italy

Snow is a beautiful thing.

Snow wraps a pretty white scarf around the sordid and everyday. It's the stuff of Cascade watersheds, the frosting on Kilimanjaro, the secret ingredient in Telluride daiquiris.

Snow is to be cherished.

Yet it's not snowflakes that I see drifting into Ferrari's brick courtyard on the Via Abetone, the Temple Mount in this, the Jerusalem of Red Cars. Instead, I imagine I see tiny, confetti-like news clippings from Corriere della Sera, each one telling of an American journalist who managed to plunge a Ferrari 458 Italia into a snowy mountain suckhole. If I did that, it would be the biggest weather related-accident since Dallas Raines bought his wardrobe.

I kid you not, young lovers. As I turn the red enamel key in the ignition, and the V-8's devils begin to dance on the drumhead -- KeWhe-drummmmmmmm -- I am genuinely concerned.

Alas, the timing is what it is. I have a chance to drive Ferrari's newest mid-engine V-8 Berlinetta, a car that's quicker than the legendary Enzo (less than 3.4 seconds to 60 mph), with 72 horsepower more than the mind-frying F430, with a top speed in excess of 202 mph. A car with a wicked, scything aerodynamic shape, a bloody knife like never haunted Lady Macbeth..."

I am glad to say that my cheaper 911 turbo does a launch at the same amount of time. It's my first time to ever reach 100 in less than 4 seconds. There is no word to describe the feeling. With this new 458 the sound will captivate you with soul and passion along with great performance. I would love to be at a red light with an 458 and surprise him with equal 0-60 launches since a lot of consumers are just Sunday drivers who know nothing about sports cars. They will be surprised. Hopefully those men going through mid-life crisis will realize that not only Ferrari's can go fast. Porsche's are just as respectable. They are certainly capable of making an hyper car (CGT). Just not all can afford one. But Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, and Porsche's are amongst my favorite for engineering.

The current 911 Turbo is a very nice car. So is this Ferrari. I don't think (most) people buy either of these cars to launch them out of stoplights though. Congratulations on owning your Porsche. Each to their own.

Hmmm.........the Italia should easily best it on the track and I can't help but believe it's an even more mind-altering ride than the Turbo. Still, I'm undecided over it's looks and will have to see it in person.
