2011 BMW 5-Series vs. All-New Mercedes Benz E-Class

Nice writeup, and a big win for the 5-Series, especially since it came from MotorTrend, who typically goes the opposite way of every other magazine and disses whatever BMW they are testing. They concluded the comparison by calling the new 535i "a physics-defying technological wonder". Sounds like the new 5-Series is going to be a great vehicle. 550i xDrive anyone?

Here's the thing...if I had to look at this car in my rear view mirror...I'm hitting the brakes cause I would most certainly enjoy look at this car from the rear. Something about the front end design that irks me. Other than that...I'm patiently waiting for the M5....

Call me old-fashioned but after comparing the interior shots of these two vehicles, the E's for some reason seems more appealing & luxurious.

Kudos to both MB & BMW on these marvellous cars!

It was very close according to Motor Trend. In the end badge loyalty and what you're looking for in a car will influence the buying decision. Both great cars.

Is it me?, or are both cars boring? How much fun will those cars actualy provide? Driving livingrooms do nothing for me. Especaily when they are slow and cost a small fortune. Whatever makes people happy I guess.
