MORE BMW M1 RUMORS, M-Car To Feature Personlization Program, A Lot Of Carbon Fiber
Although rumors are usually frowned upon, the infamous Scott26 from 1Addicts is usually dead-on. So, we bet he's right on this.

Take a look at what he's saying will be possible:

"EXTERIOR:
  • Carbon fiber hood (bonnet)
  • Carbon fiber trunk (bootlid) with integrated spoiler
  • Carbon fiber mirrors
  • Carbon fiber front splitters
  • Carbon fiber rear valence diffuser
  • Carbon fiber sideskirts
  • M-stripes (available in M tricolors, Alpine White, or Ferric Gray)
  • M-stripes may be placed on left, central, or right hand side of car. Additional stripes can be incorporated along the side of the car.
  • 18" competition wheels in two finishes
  • BMW shadowline chrome can be extended to the front kidney grills and rear exhaust ports (titanium effect finish will be an option).
  • Matte paint options : Frozen Gray, Frozen Black, Ice White.
  • Techno Violet option (including all additional colors from other M-vehicles)
INTERIOR:
  • Seats available in full and half-leather using M tri-color pattern on center of seats (like E30 / M3 Evo).
  • M tricolor pattern on door panels (like E30 / M3 Evo)
  • Carbon fiber dashboard panels / Aluminum panel options.
  • Titanium and body color matched pieces extending to the door handles and gear shift surround trim.
  • Alcantara seat fabric and roof headliner."

Make mine Techno Violet with as much Alcantara as possible, please.

Is this car the closest thing to an E30 M3?

More importantly, how much will this vehicle weigh?

Great use of carbon fiber for weight savings and aero-dynamic improvements (hood, roof, trunk, splitter!). I cannot weight to get non-leather light-weight seats. And, this is only describing exterior and interior changes! This along with all of the reported driveline and suspension changes should make this an instant classic.

A great time to be a car enthusiast indeeed!

lots of poser decoration. i'll wait for the new chassis, which should take the 1-series to a whole new level. this chassis is ancient

Why does the M1 get so much more than the M3,5,6?

I don't like the pot-bellied pig look of the car. What engine is installed? The turbo V8?

Looks awkward and squat. M3 looks better.

I´m a bimmer fan but I´m not really impressed by this 135iS (don´t think that it will be named M1). There are two reasons for my concerns: (a) this model is outdated and the hatchback version will be renewed in 2011. Electronics, chassis etc. are definetly old. Customer will have bad resale values... (b) There is no real weight gain by the 1-series over 3-series, because its using heavier and cheaper components. There will be only modest improvements regarding performance issues...

I like carbon fiber---when it is painted and lighter than what it replaced.
